I read the majority of this book for a class this semester I m always a little suspicious when the professor of the class is an author or editor of a required book, as was the case here, but I must say I was pleasantly surprised This is, in fact, an excellent book that I will NOT be selling back to the campus book store, but will keep on my shelf for reference You might think with trends in education changing so frequently that this book might be soon outdated, but I really don t think so I beli [...]

This book is a collection of essays dealing with a variety of topics in education teachers students schools curriculum and standards instruction foundations educational reform and diversity and social issues Each topic has 4 essays that deal with different perspectives of the topic or concerns This was an excellent resource as a preservice teacher to get a glimpse into the world of teaching and what sorts of issues political, instructional, behavioral, legal, etc come into play within the school [...]

    3. Some of the articles contained in this book do not contain well researched ideas, particularly the article claiming there are innate differences in the workings of male and female brains according to brain scans.
