    1. OK, I think I may have read a different book than everyone else This book did not work for me at all I know most people really liked and or loved this book To me, this book, well sucked I m all for reading PNR I can easily suspend disbelief Just magic your problems away and it will be all better Everything can be solved by a little magic I can totally get into that What I can t get into or suspend disbelief on is stuff that can happen in real life. Here comes the rant view spoiler OK, the MC Will [...]

    2. 1.5 StarsWill Ambrose is a popular GLBT radio talk show host who spews advice about relationships He feels like a fake, though, because his own love life is a revolving door of abusive losers Cobalt is a sexy, seductive tattoo artist and owner of the Grotto, an uber hip NYC tattoo piercing scarification shop The sparks fly when Will and Cobalt meet but neither is in a position to pursue Will because his boyfriend is a sadistic and abusive cop Cobalt because he is a Fae and humans who fall in lov [...]

    3. This was the only book I could find that S.W wrote but after having read this one I wish there were Cobalt looked to be like one hot dude and Will was gorgeous They truly complimented each other in this story in so many ways One thought himself cursed and the other the constant victim with strengths that bonded them together as two broken halves and became a whole This story had the feelings, the action and I couldn t once find a boring moment that would entice me to put the book aside and cont [...]

    4. If I had a WTF shelf as I ve heard mention of lately by some of the folk on my Friends list , then this book would definitely be on it The basic premise of the story was certainly intriguing enough to catch my interest Will Ambrose, a popular gay radio host, runs from an abusive relationship with a closeted copraight into the arms of Cobalt, a banished Fae making his living in the human world as a much sought after tattoo artist.Sounds good, right If only.Well, in order to proceed, one must susp [...]

    5. 3.5 starsInfamous tattoo artist meets famed radio talk show host. The story has an intensity driven by violence and a sense of impending doom for both protagonists This is especially so due to the cruelty both are subjected to and done onto secondary characters Will is a gentle soul who seems to keep finding bad nuts to get involved with His predisposition to find a partner who will dominate manifests into relationships with individuals who abuse he hasn t quite gotten it right And the scenes wit [...]

    6. So, I had issues with this Even ignoring the whole Fae thing, it was just too implausible And even though it was supposedly over 200 pages and my Kindle says it is over 6000 Kindle places, it seemed damned short It took me no time at all to read it There wasn t much development of anything at all and the whole book took place over like 4 days So, here s my basically chronological thoughts view spoiler At the beginning of the book Will s arm is in a sling because Lyle caused him to sprain it Afte [...]

    7. There are times I m not sure I read the same book other people did This is one of those times From reviews and blurb I did expect something different gritty, poignant, with some difficult moments. What I found is the fake LTGB version of an Harlequin romance the ones with the unbelievable stories about princes, millionaires and the like Let me start with the plot Yes, Will is beaten and raped Twice Is it difficult to read No There are no real, detailed descriptions of it We are told mostly Some o [...]

    8. I love this story It was gritty and dark with the Fae swirled in This is a great m m tale Will Ambrose is a radio relationship advice personality who is in an abusive relationship Cobalt is a tattoo artist with a fae secret Both men have their issues and help each other get over them the abuse was raw and I would have loved to flay Lyle but necessary to get Will s mindset across There was a mystery as to why Cobalt Ciaran was banished and why the villain, Eoghann, is so obsessed with him These q [...]

    9. This one took me a while to get into It is definitely not a bad story, I just think it wasn t what I wanted to read so I wasn t as excited to get going on it Turns out that once I got going, I really enjoyed the story It was dark and edgy but you also get that love and protecting feeling too We didn t really get a whole lot of info on the Fae world , so that wasn t an issue with overpowering the story Which I think made it better for me, since I m not to much into fantasy type books I do have to [...]

    10. I really enjoyed this urban fantasy novel with an interesting premise and good characters The setting is contemporary with fantasy elements in that Fae creatures are living amongst humans The writing is good with fewer errors than usually found from Loose Id of late, which is an unexpected benefit to the story The plot moves incredibly fast and the chemistry between the two men is very hot This is an author I haven t read before but hope to read something from them again Radio talk show host Wil [...]

    11. My disclaimer I read this book for a reading challenge Hey there, welcome to The Truth How can I fix your b So, I don t like erotica At all I don t like M M, F M, F F, any erotica But, I m going to put that aside and try to review this book from a story standpoint and ignore all the erotica.I still found the story lacking There was little plot No, there was interesting information but nothing to pull it together So many themes are left unexplained I guess because it s a series and it s supposed [...]

    12. I loved this book It was a big dark and violent and therefore not for everyone The abuse scenes were brutal although the sex scenes were mild Actually, I think there may have only been one, the rest implied The characters were interesting and I appreciated how Vaughn didn t think I was ignorant and assumed I had some understanding of the Fae His was a unique take on them but it was well done I loved the complexity of Uriskel in particular He was so interesting and difficult to figure out I reall [...]

    13. I expected a lot out of this book if I m being completely honest I thought the story and characters had a lot of potential but I spent most of the time waiting to get really sucked into the book I wanted Cobalt to actually do , do something to help Will, rather than just sympathize with him and bathe his wounds Will also seemed like two different people and the whole radio persona didn t really fit in with his personality, it all seemed a bit cheesy I ll read the rest of the series, hoping thin [...]

    14. 3.5 This story totally pulled me in I really wanted to learn about the Fey world. The domestic violence was difficult to read about and i wondered why Will was repeatedly in unhealthy relationships Cobalt was sweet, but I didn t feel like I got to know him as well as I would have liked to Maybe some of my questions will be answered in the next book.

    15. An intriguing balance of human and fae worlds all based in New York The book doesn t feel very paranormal because the fae powers are not really the focus Relationships are the key drivers of this plot line and I can see there is plenty of scope for the development of the series I really enjoyed this first book, so I m sure I ll continue

    16. I picked up this book because I fancied something other than a contemporary romance and the UF elements in the book caught my attention as did the extract It s always a good sign if the extract gets you interested enough to read on and the combination of radio talk show hero mixed with banished fae other hero seemed refreshingly different from the sort of books I ve been reading recently. The story begins with Will, who hosts a radio talk show where gay men phone in with either a question or a co [...]

    17. Aside from having a very hot cover, Skin Deep is also a very good novel It s the story of Will Ambrose and Cobalt, two men who have in common than simple an odd name Will is a DJ for a night show on the radio He is gay and out but that is not a free ticket for happiness Will tends to attract people with violence issue, boyfriends who end to hurt Will and not only in a figurative way And now Will is even in danger since his boyfriend Lyle, not only is violent, he is also a cop, and so Will is s [...]

    18. 3.5 stars.I wanted to like this book , but I m a bit disappointed by the way it ends. What I liked Will, the human protagonist I really cared and ached for him The story of his abuse by his partners made me hurt so much, especially because Will is a caring, witty and lovely man He also seems pretty honest to himself There is a point in the middle of the book where he compares being hurt physically and being hurt emotionally and I really had to stop reading for a while, the emotion was so deep it [...]

    19. I really enjoyed this one I liked Will and Cobalt a lot Although I do feel like I don t really know Cobalt Will was a great character to root for still down to earth, trying to break the cycle and willing to take a chance when he hasn t always had moonbeams and pennywhistle s This story reminded me of Spike s quote from Buffy You re not friends You ll never be friends You ll be in love till it kills you both You ll fight, you ll shag and you ll hate each other till it makes you quiver, but you l [...]

    20. I have to admit that the beginning was a bit slow to draw me in but once it caught my attention I was sucked in and ended up loving it I loved the fact that while Will was in an abusive relationship he ended it when it got to the point of causing serious damage He s a strong human since he can live past his abusive relationships and not become jaded or broken to the point of afraid of touch Cobalt was just soo sexy to me He s loving and caring and has only good intentions at heart for Will They [...]

    21. My mini review doesn t say too much I hope lol.I was first drawn to this book by the cover and title Then I read the blurb and was curious so I thought I d take a chance.I m not going to say too much as to not give away the plot, but I will say that this book involves fae fairies, Seelie Unseelie court, tattoos, piercings and mention of scarification I have an idea of what scarification is, so I didn t Google it because I fear I might see something that wouldn t want to There is also a couple o [...]

    22. Meh, this book was ok I started out enjoying it quite a lot, the story was interesting sort of like a movie, there for entertainment not realism especially with the abuse and healing And I was fine with that The magical world was very interesting and the story of Cobalt was cool, kept me wondering how it would end. However the drama between Will and Cobalt felt really overdone, there were multiple betrayals, lies, insecurities and makeups within the span of 4 days of knowing each other this whole [...]

    23. I actually enjoyed this one quite a bit Was a February challenge fantasy read for the LGBTQ Fantasy group, and a new choice for me Wouldn t have found this author on my own, but very glad I was challenged to read it I was especially fascinated with the world building tie in to our contemporary world with the radio celebrity, and the treatment of an abusive history as well as the story behind the MC s individual curses.Anytime there are beautiful men with tattoos, I m pulled in, and having an M M [...]

    24. 3.5 starsWhile there was much that I liked about this book, principally Will, the host of a sex relationship radio show and Cobalt, the tattoo artist There is some good dialogue and the MCs scenes together were strong I liked the world Cobalt had created for himself after being banished from the realm of the fae He has his friends Nix and Shade and his business The introduction of Uriskel, the semi threatening Unseelie added an element of uncertainty and danger Where the book fell flat was in ex [...]

    25. This is the second book I ve read within the week where a character was abused and I m finding I don t like books like that Will was a punching bag for Lyle and I just couldn t figure out why a supposedly intelligent man would allow that type of relationship to continue So that aspect of the story ruined the rest of the story for me Uriskel was the most interesting character in the story for me I found Cobalt to be a tad bit weak Yes I understand that he wanted to protect Will but he could have [...]

    26. A brutal but very good beginning to what I hope is a worthwhile series I enjoyed Cobalt and Will thoroughly and even got wrapped up in their angst as both men are damaged I was surprised by Uriskel toward the end Well plotted, with a good flow and enough surprises to keep this quick read interesting.

    27. Just adored this engaging m m paranormal romance DJ Will escapes from abusive Cop Lyle and finds true love with delicious Fae tattoo artist Cobalt Wow, there are two in the series, can t wait He placed a kiss on his forehead Let me worship you Will decided he d died Lyle must have killed him And heaven was Cobalt.

    28. Quite good urban fantasy m m romance that was a bit hard for me to read at points, due to graphic violence in a domestic abuse situation I am glad I persevered.

    29. It was nice and entertaining and fast paced and I liked Will with Cobalt On the other hand, too many things were rushed and overlooked, like will Will grow older and die while Cobalt stays young forever Also, Will went too easily from abused to having a sexual relationship with Cobalt and the world building was minimal I d read the next book if it was free or under a dollar P
