    1. What a delightful read I was wondering if Ms Thomas was going to turn this one around from its disastrous beginning, and she did Making it worthy of its place in theWife Lottery saga, one of the best western series I ve read.Lacy Larson is the youngest of the brides, the one wearing rose colored glasses so it is no surprise that she is confronted with the harsh realities of frontier life, some at her own insistence But she can put up with anything, as long as she knows when it will end.Captain W [...]

    2. Treasures of time can t be put in the pocket, they have to be stored in the heartWow Once again I must mention how surprised I have been to find myself loving this sub genre Thank you to all my GR friends Jill, Denise, Lisa Kay Lady D who recommended not only this series but many other Western Romance novels.Jodi Thomas Wife Lottery Series contains three books that I devoured I was drawn by the plot of three women who are auctioned off to avoid a jail sentence for killing a man in self defense E [...]

    3. 4.5 starsI m happy to say I liked this book than When a Texan Gambles It s a great addition to the series I liked both Lacy and Walker, but Carter remains my favorite. From a rocky beginningThree years after Walker and Lacy married by proxy, Lacy decides it s finally time for her absent husband to come home But the Captain begs to differ He doesn t want a wife, any wife, and he manages to alienate Lacy Going back home, Lacy decides to stay away from her husband for good.To the Countdown, getting [...]

    4. DNFI started directly withA Texan s Luck, the third in the series I didn t like Lacy and Walker at all From the beginning, it was a no go When Lacy walks into her husband, until then unknown to her and demands he bed her, I knew that was it I insisted further, but didn t go very far It s going to be a while before I try anything byJodi Thomas again.

    5. 1.5 starsPretty much one sweet moment in the epilogue and the hero Walker are the only things I managed to like about this book, the rest of the story and Lacy s histrionics just drove me up the wall The number and frequency of mood swings this girl goes through puts any kind of bad PMS days I have to shame OyI swear This was pure torture to get through Same problem with The Texan s Wager I had with this one as well, it lacked oomph, passion, true emotion The author spends very little time givin [...]

    6. After reading the first two books in Jodi Thomas fantastic Wife Lottery series, The Texan s Wager and When a Texan Gambles, I was definitely looking forward to reading the third book in this series called A Texan s Luck and man, was I in for an enjoyable ride The story starts off when Captain Walker Larson discovers a shocking revelation when a young and beautiful woman named Lacy Larson walks into his office and tells him that she is his wife Unfortunately, Walker has no intentions of having a [...]

    7. 3.5 stars I think Honestly it was a four star book until I stopped reading it for the night and then I ran into a reading slump where I had no desire to pick up a book So really its my fault its not a 4 star really So if you read this in one wop It s probably a 4 star book.Lacey, I thought she was okay She had ONE moment where she irritated me and almost caused me to hate her She told him to make her his real wife and sleep with him, so he stuck it in and told her to leave When they met again he [...]

    8. SIGH , this book was MAGIC, Perfection in it s imperfection.I seriously have no words to describe how much I adored it Definitely the best installment of the series I can t believe this but I just can t stop sighing, LOL I don t even remember the last time I felt so much with one of my reads Oh boy, I don t even know where to start I m seriously speechless right now, something that doesn t happen to me often I just will say that even though westerns are not my usual genre, this book is a must re [...]

    9. I really liked this book I think, because Carter was one of the first I read of her heroes, it made it harder for anyone else to live up to his standard Jodi Thomas has to be one of the best western authors ever If there is anyone else who does it better, I have yet to come across them.Walker was a great hero because he didn t hate Lacy In fact, he came into the picture with a lot of emotion due to their first encounter so he wasn t as cold as he wanted to be I thought the reason for his leaving [...]

    10. This was a good, but not remarkable, Western Romance If I was not comparing it to other reads by the same author and others I might have graded it higher, but it did fall short for me in some areas. The good Jodi Thomas is a great writer and the story flowed smoothly from start to finish I was engaged and entertained throughout and while I didn t stay up till 3 00 a.m to see what would happen next, I certainly never considered the book boring or thought of abandoning it And I do abandon books if [...]

    11. On its own the story is probably better, but I can t help comparing it to the first two Lacy is the youngest of the three women sheriff married off in his wife lottery She went to see her husband once, lost her virginity and he sent her home. Now Zeb Whitaker is back from prison and he wants his gold back, so sheriff arranged that Lacy s husband, captain Walker Larson, comes back to Cedar Point and protect her.I didn t feel the connection to these characters as I did with the ones in the first tw [...]

    12. 3.5 stars. This book was the least enchanting. While the length or less the same as the other two books, this book felt dragging I just couldn t warm up to Lacy Her arguing with Walker seemed childish and pointless Instead of painting her as a strong woman, she came out as a bit foolish and couldn t make up her mind And the author seemed couldn t make up her mind also about Walker s character At first, he seemed hard and dark, even so than Sam Gatlin But, he turned on the charm and determined to [...]

    13. I read the first book in this series The Texans Wager and it left me wanting , so I gave this book a try It was a decent western historical romance, but I didn t feel as connected to this one as I did the first book Also, I was disappointed that there were no follow ups from the characters in book one That book ended with a HFN feeling, and not a HEA so I was hoping to get some closure with this one No such luck This one also ended with a HFN type ending It left much to be desired in the sense o [...]

    14. I really enjoyed this book Walker is a tall, sexy man in unifrom What s not to like Looking forward to book 4.

    15. The whole thing wasn t really a 5 at some points the story dragged and the woman got on my nerves etc , but man after finishing the book I m swooning like a teenybopper at a Justin Bieber concert Romance in it was off the charts, it was surprisingly funny at times characters were well done, not quite the usual stock material One curious thing about the characters was that it felt like the reader got to know them step by step while the story continued Everything about them wasn t clear as a day [...]

    16. Lacy Larson lives in dreams and wishes because her life has been really poor and difficult So when she is fifteen and is married by proxy Captain Walker Larson, her new better life begins because Mr Larson Walker s father is a kind and loving man who takes her in and gives her a place in society as well as a family to make some real security in life So when she is 18 after 3 years of proxy read fake marriage, LAcy decides to find her husband who is only a day train ride and stage ride away from [...]

    17. I enjoyed this one as much as the first book in the series Captain Larson comes across as a complete ass at first, but slowly learns to be a good husband Lacy was so young when she was first married to him by proxy by his father At only 15 she had those dreamy childlike expectations of what a marriage is and what a husband should be, despite or maybe because having a difficult childhood herself When she finally works up the courage to go see him several years later, those daydreams are of course [...]

    18. view spoiler Everyone in this book was an idiot.a IT IS COMPLETELY MORONIC TO NOT TELL YOUR PARTNER YOU ARE A VIRGIN IT JUST IS, OKAY What the heck was the girl expecting, that he d magically know b And why the heck did she think he d be all Romance and Love and Flowers deep breath Okay Okay, she was fifteen when she started imagining such things and later only eighteen I am seventeen and I think that s just about the most ridiculous thing ever but, well, b.1 Lacy doesn t read like I do and b.2 [...]

    19. Nice one this is the 3rd installment in the wife lottery series 3 girls who were abandoned were travelling together then a burglar with the name of Zeb Whitaker came upon them and they all took turns hitting him, they thought he was dead and they all confessed killing him however the body was not found. This story is about Lacy Walker father paid her fine and married her to his son by proxy His son who he have not seen since he was 17 he hoped by doing this to correct some previous mistakes that [...]

    20. Captain Walker Larson is a legend He left home at 17 never to return At first he seems heartless, cold and distant to her, but then she begins to see another side to her Captain.Fifteen year old Lacy the youngest of the 3 ladies thrown off a wagon train going west, is also the smallest in stature, but there is a lot of fiestiness packed in that small package After confessing to killing a man who attacked her, Lacy and her 2 friends are put in jail The sheriff comes up with the idea of a wife lot [...]

    21. 4.5Another great story I recommend this to those that like a fast paced storyd enjoy the chase This is also a good book for those that don t care too much for the sexual scenes They re there, but not graphic at allortfade to black It doesn t make the story any less enjoyable because this writer is really talented with her plots You ll get drawn in and won t be able to put the book down.

    22. Sweet book and series so far I didn t think I d like Lacy s story as much because she wasn t my favorite of the wives but actually she turned into a wonderful character I m planning on reading all the rest of the books in the series if I can get my hands on them The first two I read had to be sent from libraries outside of my area At least I was able to get them

    23. I LOVED this book My favorite in the Wife Lottery series, it was different from the first two in a good way and such a breath of fresh air I needed this read 5 stars Captain Walker and Madam Lacy were spectacular in this push and pull romance Their banter was amusing and their chemistry was amazing Loved every minute of it

    24. True to my bad habit of reading series out of order, this is the first book I ve read from the Wife Lottery series And you know what I liked it Characters were endearing and the storyline was refreshing Will definitely add others in this series to my TBR list First I ve read by this author as well.

    25. I m not sure if this book is as strong as the other two, but I ll give it 4 stars because the series is great and I like how the author plays with the different plots I m ready to read Two Bits story

    26. Loved it This book truly went to my heart Walker and Lacy are people that you come to love Walker is unbendable at first but through time he can see Lacy and her little excentricities as something to cherish You will love this cowboy western romance.

    27. I do love this series Lacy was my favorite of the three lottery brides , and I was thrilled to read her story I really liked the pacing of the story, and how Lacy and Walker were slow to come together heh The entire series comes highly recommended by me.
