    1. I read this book to kindergarteners this past week and we all loved it I think this book is a new classic We looked at the cover and the kids noticed that the apple tree makes the letter T in Terrible We focused on rhyming words as our literacy focus, but it s just a good story and so much fun to read and rhyme The kids loved saying the words plop, stop, and hop The illustrations are perfect fun, textured, collage, filled with humor The rabbits eat carrots and chocolate cake by the lake The bear [...]

Various woodland creatures are startled by a Terrible Plop, but one big brown bear with accompanying timid bunny is determined to discover what it is and end the hysteria once and for all. This was a fun library find, an engaging story about being afraid just because you don t know what something is at first doesn t mean it s necessarily scary It s true that there are things to fear in life, but sometimes a plop is just a plop.

    3. Before I begin, a word to the adults out there Ahem GET YOUR MIND OUT OF THE GUTTER THAT IS NOT WHAT THIS BOOK IS ABOUT I wish I could say that the creators of this book were all wide eyed innocents when they named it The Terrible Plop, but let s be realistic here Honestly More adults AND kids are going to pick this book up when they read the cover, if only to figure out whether or not it s as dirty as the title implies What they will find instead is a funny bit of writing packed in a story that [...]

    4. When someone wants to sleep so bad but a terrible sound keeps them awake, chaos may ensue which certainly happens in this funny picture book written by Ursula Dubosarsky, illustrated by Andrew Joyner and published by Farrar Straus Giroux PB animals humor

    5. This book went over well both times I read it at story time today for 2 groups of 3 5 year olds Fun rhymes and a nice message sometimes we re are afraid of things just because they are unknown.

    6. The Terrible Plop The Terrible Plop is a beautiful picture book in all ways The production of The Terrible Plop is perfect It has a gorgeous cover jacket with a bold and bright design that entices the reader, as well as very cool endpapers Even the size of the book is right not too big, but large enough to be able to turn it around to show a young audience This book has wonderful rhyming text which is a joy to read The Terrible Plop follows a noise that scares the rabbits in the forest, who in t [...]

    12. The Terrible Plop is nominated for the Building Block Award and I think it will make a great read aloud Kids will love the humor and guessing what the cause of the terrible plop is The author is sneaky and never tells the reader what exactly the terrible plop is but the reader has to look for it in the illustrations My only problem with the book was that I felt it went on just a bit too long You d have to have a very captive audience to read this one to But for older readers who can stit through [...]

    13. This is one of my favorite books to read aloud to an audience I think its a dynamic story that goes from animals peacefully lounging, to animals frantically running, to the interactions between a little rabbit and a big brown bear Great trickster tale that I would pair with Monkey A Trickster Tale from India by McDermott Although I think its a fun group audience book, I think this would still be a great share one on one with a little one who still wants to curl up on or next to you That s why it [...]

    14. 16. Wasn t sure what this book would be about with that title, but it turned out really cute I like the illustrations This should work in storytime The rhyming overall works, but once in a while it s a bit jilty Still, if I m ready for those parts I can make them work in storytime.10 22 14 I wasn t ready for those parts, especially with my tired slow reactions self right now It definitely halted me and I lost the pace of the book But I think I got back to it, and the kids seemed to follow this one t [...]

    17. This is a fun rhyming story about forest animals including some jungle ones like monkeys who are running from a terrible plop noise The rabbits hear it first and soon a whole herd of different creatures are fleeing the scene When they run into big brown bear, he doesn t believe anything could be scary enough to panic about, so he insists seeing what this terrible plop is all about All along, WE know what it is this adds to the fun dramatic irony as does a twist at the end.

    18. I remember reading this book before and it didn t go very well because the kids didn t understand that the bunnies shouldn t be scared of an apple falling into the water I used it as a display book this time, and the kids really wanted to hear it, so I read it again I was surprised at how well it went and got a big laugh I didn t think they d be old enough to understand It s just one of those books you never know, depends on the group.

    19. The Terrible Plop reminded me of the classic tale of Chicken Little When some rabbits grazing by the creek hear a loud PLOP from an apple falling into the water they run, panicked that some terrible something is after them As they flee from the terrible PLOP they warn the other animals along the way, causing a whirl wind of chaos as they go Super fun read aloud that kids will LOVE

    20. Mass hysteria breaks out in the woods when the rabbits hear a terrible plob and warn everyone to run, including foxes, elephants, monkeys, pigs It bothered me that all of these animals wouldn t be in the same place and a lot of them wouldn t be near an apple tree I know it s supposed to be silly, but I couldn t get past that.

    21. Plop hee hee No, it s not that kind of plop It s a picture book about how all the animals let themselves get carried away by fear of some unknown threat An apple falls into the water plop and those who hear the noise get scared Don t know why, but they do Suddenly everyone is running from the Plop Cute book.

    22. Predictable, but a nice message about facing your fears I really liked the illustrations, but why are all of these animals in the same forest I found myself stopping to explain to my daughter who likely didn t care that some of the animals belong in a temperate forest, some a rain forest, some a savannah, some Australia, and some in a house.

    23. This one is a fun read Good for bedtime or anytime since it isn t too long or involved The illustrations are very cute remind me a little of Yogi Bear for some reason It rhymes and has a nice ending, so all of my favorite things DS seems to enjoy it too.

    24. When a mysterious sound sends the whole forest running away in fear, only the littlest rabbit and a big brown bear are courageous enough to discover what really happened But the not really for the big brown bear
