See the full review at Literary Cafe literarycafe.weebly home pA few months ago I went to visit my dad s family I simply brought my laptop in case for some reason I should need it I returned back to my house with not only my laptop, but two bags full of Terri Blackstock books from my incredibly amazingly perfect aunt She promised me that I would fall in love, and she was right, because I did.I kicked off my adventures with Emerald Windows I then continued on to the Newpointe 911 Series I read ea [...]

    2. This was a great romantic suspense by Terri Blackstock The suspense was great and building as the book progressed and the plot surrounding Allie and Mark was executed well.Mark and Allie At first I didn t like Mark He didn t realise the relationship with Issie not physical was wrong and not pure and blamed Allie for all their marriage issues I sympathized with Allie, but at some point felt for Mark as Allie made up her mind of what was going on between Mark and Issie and was not open to hear Mar [...]

    3. Pretty good thriller, but a bit too preachy on the Christian side for me I m a Christian, a Catholic to be specific, and I felt that the God in in Control message was hammered in with a sledge hammer It didn t have to be that way I felt that it distracted from the good suspense of the novel In general, I really liked the story and the characters.

    4. I thought I would try out a new author The synopsis raised my interest, being a fire wife myself The mystery part of the book was good I was surprised at who the murderer was, so I was impressed about that However, the story dragged on and on It would ve been much better without all the bible quotes over and over, and how much god affects how people act It would have been a better story without all the preachy talk.

    5. I like a good sermon as much as the next person, but enough is enough in this book I wish she had dialed it down a notch or two.

    6. Setting Newpointe, Louisana.Plot Firemen s wives are being murdered Mark seeks to protect Allie, but that s not easy since his marriage is falling apart.I read this book years ago and loved it then, and loved it now The characters are likable, the plot is exited and the twists are surprising Tossing in the right amount of Bible verses makes this an excellent read.I can t get enough of Blackstock s book as it lifts my faith and entertains me at the same time Can t ask for than that I look forwar [...]

    7. The mystery part of this book was very well done The Christian part was very preachy and not well integrated into the story I think the author is talented, but needs to learn to get her message across in subtle ways, as the preaching really disrupts the story I take some issue with the theology of the message as well God doesn t cause bad things to happen to punish us that keeps being brought up by the characters in the book I think that is pretty weak theology.

    8. Private Justice is a fast paced, suspenseful mystery The mystery was a who done it that kept me uncertain until the end The suspense was created by the tension between Mark and Allie due to their marriage troubles and the fact that Allie and the other firemen s wives were being stalked by a killer. The characters made mistakes that increased the suspense, but they were very believable, human mistakes They were smart people The mistakes were due to ignorance or the character thought he was making [...]

    9. I really loved this book Mark and Allie had some problems in their marriage, but after a string of murders decided to recommit themselves to it There were a lot of edge of your seat moments in this book, as well as a lot of insightful moments I loved when Mark told Allie the truth about his relationship with Issie It may not have been physical, but there was a relationship that was forming that was disrespectful to his wife and his vows I can t wait to read the next book in this series.

    10. Couldn t even really get going into the book because it became so preachy I thought it would be a mystery suspense book, but I guess it was about trying to convert the masses than about fiction I m sorely disappointed.

    11. This book was one of Terri Blackstock s best reads yet It had intrigue, and kept the reader s attention throughout The true mark of a good book is when the author leaves you wanting I will definitely read in this series.

    12. This was an enjoyable story to read I liked the relationship struggles and conflicts amongst the backdrop of action and murder The mystery was good and kept me guessing till the very end.

    13. Refreshing Thank you so much for writing a book where Christians and Christianity are shown in a positive light I have never read one of your books and took a chance on this one What a blessing Thanks for the great mystery too The characters were very normal, experiencing everyday frustrations, life challenges, bad decisions, and heartache, yet the lessons learned were excellent messages to all who have the pleasure of reading this book I m looking forward to reading many of your books

    14. It was a good story, but I am not gonna lie not the best Blackstock book I have read I figured it out before the end of the book but finished reading to make sure I am moving on to the next in the series sometimes it is just a matter of luck that the reader gets to the solution before the writer I have for the most part not had that as an issue with Blackstock s books so onward to book two in this series I am really enjoying the styling of the other series so I am sure this one will warm up too

    15. Good mix of mystery and Christian guidance Only the 2nd time I have ever looked at the ending to see who the killer was.

    16. The story started off slow and I was able to predict the killer by the halfway point but still an enjoyable read.

    17. I love how Blackstock writes crime dramas without all of the unnecessary cursing and sex Also, how she ties in Christian values and passages I m excited to work my way through this series.

    18. Private Justice is pretty good crime lit with some plot gaps that get overlooked by the air of adventure in the story This falls solidly into the christian lit department too This isn t crime fiction from a christian author This is christian crime fiction Terri Blackstock appears to have a personal bias against alcohol, presenting a teetotaler view of drinking instead of a moderate and Biblical view That could be specific to just this book though Private Justice did seem fast paced and mixed in [...]

    19. Thrilling, gripping, and entertaining, the novel Private Justice, written by Terri Blackstock, kept me reading all night, way past my bedtime. The whodunit story weaves a serial killer murder mystery in with a couple s estrangement Separated due to a misunderstanding she believes he had an affair and he refuses to acknowledge that his actions were wrong fireman Mark Benning and his wife Allie must redefine their relationship while a serial killer stalks and murders fire wives Blackstock mixes the [...]

    20. Private Justice published in 1998 by Terri Blackstock might be an oldie, but it is still a goodie The first book in her NewPointe 911 series, it was chosen as a group read for a FB group I belong to It is vintage Blackstock with fast paced, page turning suspense and a strong faith message I have read a lot of her novels, but have not read this series But I intend to fix that soon the rest of the series is now on my TBR list Have you read this book Let me know what you thought. The wives of firefi [...]

    21. It was hard for me to rate this book because I read the entire Restoration Series, loved it, and was expecting a lot in this 911 series I guess I should not be surprised it disappointed me because the author wrote this book prior to the Restoration Series, and I m sure she got better along the way I almost rated this book a 3 star, but I didn t because it was never hard for me to get through the book First, I thought the whole concept of killing firefighters wives was silly and guessing the kil [...]

    22. This book introduced me to the Newpointe community, which centers around a firehouse and the men who work there The book introduces you to Mark Allie, married for 4 years and currently separated Allie feels like Mark cheated on her with a floozy named Issie, even though they never did anything than talk Mark has seemed to lose his faith began drinking because of this At the beginning of the book, a fireman s wife dies She was shot in the head and then her house was set on fire The next day, the [...]

    23. Well, I just seem to love Mrs Blackstock and Didn t think that was possible I thoroughly enjoyed this book It was suspenseful, spiritual, and just plain engaging I hope to see of the characters in the next book, which I will certainly be reading soon The book addresses matters of the heart, as Blackstock often does, but specifically for marriage, which I seem to be and into the older I get It vaguely reminded me of Fireproof, which I also loved and know came out way after this I love that t [...]
