This book is just a general overview of the family aspect of kwanza and what it means to have this african heritage It showed different happenings for the family that was written about during the kwanza time of the year I enjoyed this book as it gave insight on a different culture which was very interesting I liked how it used african words to describe things as that gave the book a layer of authenticity I could read this to students to help them appreciate and understand other cultures other th [...]

Our girls are taught a little bit about most of the holidays that are celebrated around Christmastime and both have woven a Mkeka straw mat from black, green and red paper This book is a short and interesting way to teach about Kwanzaa, although our youngest about pitched a fit because she didn t want me to read it it was her sister s pick I read it anyway, but she sulked the whole time Oh well, at least I tried.

This was a short book about the traditions of Kwanzaa It started out by kids cleaning around the house, then getting food, then lighting the candles and singing songs all night long I liked this book because it did a good job of showing what the holiday of Kwanzaa is and how people celebrate itI would use this in my class to teach kids about Kwanzaa and what it means.
