This book is to some extent a cheat, which is why I did not give it five stars Professor Sims Williams has written several thought provoking and groundbreaking articles over the years, and all of his best have been collected here Sims Williams ability to see Gildas, Bede, and Historia Brittonum as having fluid usefulness with regards to post Roman history is well on display Each piece was written independently, often with years separating them, and yet as a whole they complement each other and p [...]
