    1. DNF on page 185So, I requested this because I saw the comparison to Bridget Jones s Diary To me, that means semi adult topics and a 17 18 year old MC Nope This girl was 14 She was 14 and talking about being a spinster because her bff had a boyfriend She talked about dying to give a hand job and how she was going to marry a senior and have his football babies because he talked to her in the hall She was getting drunk and putting herself in stupid situations She s horrible to her best friend and w [...]

    2. I am struggling to point out anything special or new about this story It certainly doesn t cover any new ground thematically or stylistically there is a bit of theater, a gay best friend, parent troubles and a very wrong love interest But I did mostly enjoy reading it somehow It s light and summery.

    3. Emma Chastain s A Year in the Life of Chloe Snow was the most enjoyable book I ve read in years. It s a year of Chloe Snow s daily journal entries as her mother moves to Mexico, she enters high school, and she deals with surprises in all of her relationships This girl is the funniest girl I ve ever read She s almost like an adult Eloise She s so honest and smart I couldn t wait to see what she was going to say next All of the characters are well drawn I kept wanting to Google them, then I d have [...]

    4. I have fallen in deep love with this book Chloe Snow, high school freshman disaster, captured my heart on page one Chloe comes alive on the pages of her diary and tells her story with honesty and humor and wit I smiled and laughed out loud so much while reading this book that my face hurt Chloe s reactions are so very real Oh, Chloe Snow This book is for anyone who has fallen hard for the wrong person This is for anyone who has drifted away from their best friend This is for anyone who has yelle [...]

    5. Original review can be found at kristineandterri 2 I received an advanced readers copy from Simon and Schuster Canada in exchange for an honest review Thank you Just when I thought that perhaps I d had my fill of YA, along came Confessions of a High School Disaster I ve always enjoyed YA but lately I have felt like the genre has been letting me down Either the story is too far fetched or just too cute to be relatable Confessions of a High School Disaster was none of those things and rang so comp [...]

    6. This review and many can be found on my blog Feed Your Fiction AddictionThis is the type of book that baffles me because I really enjoyed it even though it has a lot of elements that normally frustrate me Chloe isn t always the most likable character and she makes a lot of very poor decisions but she s only 14 and, importantly, she actually reads like a 14 year old So, I found myself giving her a lot leeway than I usually would She s very young and naive, but she so wants to feel mature she [...]

    7. This was really fun and cute I don t read much YA with younger protags but when I do, I especially love the diary format, which I think Chastain pulls off really well here I love the complicate parental relationships, the sexual and romantic curiosity, the changing friendships just felt really true in a great way.

    8. Confessions of a High School Disaster takes shape around the life of Chloe Snow, whose daily journal entries catalogue the defining moments of high school ratio of moments, awkward to graceful 10 1 Chloe s life is no exception to the universal wackiness of freshman year she juggles schoolwork with boys, friend dynamics with DMs, a mom who moves to Mexico with sweaty auditions for the school play Emma nails Chloe s voice, and it was a DELIGHT to find out that she got writing inspo from her own, a [...]

    9. This book is hilarious and charming and I enjoyed every page Chloe is, for me, a perfect funny contemp narrator delightfully lightly bitchy, sharply observant in ways that felt both deeply, wonderfully specific and true to the character and her age, and possessing the kind of shoulders back confidence I would ve killed for as a kid and loooved living vicariously through on the page. This book is just so damned fun to read Among the things Chastain nails are theater kid culture, teen boredom, the [...]

    10. Chloe Snow is so real The voice is right on the money You can t help but fall in love with her as she navigates all that comes with starting high school growing apart from old friends, boyfriends, being the bottom of the pack, struggles with her parents Teens will find a sympathetic and funny friend in this book.

    11. Thanks so much to Simon and Schuster Canada for providing me with this book for an honest review As always, all opinions are my own Just a fair warning, this review is of a rant perhaps directed at aspects of society itself than the book but consider yourself warned I really wanted to like this book I really, really really wanted to like this book It had all the makings of a perfect story, a cute maybe romance, told in the form of diary journal entries, with a promising parent figure and one w [...]

    12. I voluntarily read and reviewed an ARC of this book Thanks to NetGalley and Simon Pulse for the opportunity to read and review Confessions of a High School Disaster Chloe Snow s Diary by Emma Chastain Chloe is nervous about starting high school and is trying to figure out who she is and what she wants Her freshman year turns out to be nothing like she imagined and so much bigger than she could have guessed it would be Through the year, Chloe has crushes, makes friends and learns how to grow and [...]

    13. Would you believe me if I told you I ve never read Bridget s Jones s Diary I ve only watched them Would you believe me when I say I don t really read diaries in fiction much that aside I feel Chloe Snow has certainly changed my tune on this I LOVED IT Chloe Snow s story was told through an entry in her diary every day it all begins just before freshman year of high school, Chloe Snow has high hopes, new year new school, she has expectations to live up too one of which to have her first kiss, I m [...]

    14. Loved every second inside Chloe s world what a delightful novel, absolutely littered with brilliantly funny writing What the book does so well is show how, in the space of a year in Chloe s case , or a chapter, or even a paragraph, your fortunes as a teen can rise and fall, and further, how a single new thought can spin your perspective around, leaving you feeling great or terrible I was so dazzled by Chloe s melodramatic self deprecating hopeful sweet selfish hilarious pattern of thinking Such [...]

    15. Page 21 I had to make six trips to my room to move all Mom s clothes in there. If I had to describe her style in two words, I d say SCARVES GALORE Picture a g psy yoga teacher, and then add bangles than you thought, and that s Mom.Can you not with the racial slurs used in a way that normalizes them Also, my ARC had a scene where Chloe s crush Mac slapped her on the butt and she said I guess now I ve been sexually harassed And I liked it This was originally the breaking point for me that made me [...]

    16. The pitch comp to Bridget Jones is dumb, since this is a book that will appeal tremendously to middle school freshman in high school readers as a diary And that s about it It s a pitch perfect 14 year old white girl from the suburbs voice, and while it does nothing new or novel or even interesting, it s the sort of slice of life read a lot of those younger teen older tween readers will like I ve read reviews of people scandalized there s talk of sex and hand jobs but, like, have you spent much t [...]

    17. To see full review click here. This is a weird one to review The main character is slap worthy, but I think a lot of it has to do based on her age she s on the younger side of YA at 14 15 years old.It s not that I don t mind YA books with younger protagonists though, I generally avoid them because I can t handle a younger protagonist s usual severe immaturity but in Chloe s case what bothered me is that while she was so young, she got herself involved in some very adult situations.I mean, maybe I [...]

    18. Confessions of a High School Disaster is a decent novel It ultimately fails because of its lack of diversity and inability to contribute anything meaningful to important conversations This novel could have been most interesting had it been diverse. If you re looking for a novel about high school and all its perils, over the top reactions, and heightened emotions then Confessions of a High School Disaster is for you This novel is told in diary format, which makes identifying with the main charact [...]

    19. This story betrayed my expectation in the best way.I started having the feeling of another YA written in diary format trying to be funny In fact, the beginning reminded me too much of Angus, Thongs and Full Frontal Snogging , which I read earlier this year and with which I couldn t connected at all And thenFirst, the story Chloe has a mom away from home and a high school life beginning at the same time She doesn t understand what is up with her parents and she s scared of school Still, she s sur [...]

    20. Book Received in Exchange for Honest Opinion Review A journal based novel is such an interesting and unique idea for the young adult market Chloe is truly the definition of a disaster, Emma s writing draws you in, even if it is only to yell Chloe for being a hot mess Chloe is only 14 years old however, I felt that a lot of the topics discussed reached way beyond her 14 years and it would have been better suited to someone in the 16 17 age range She frequently talks about hand jobs, how horny she [...]

    21. REVIEW CONTAINS ROMANCE TAKEN TO A HIGHER LEVEL IF THAT MAKES YOU UNCOMFORTABLE, DO NOT READ ON This book was seriously horrible I would give it 5 stars if that was an option The main character is 14, starting her freshman year of high school and is obsessed withwe re gonna say romance AND SHE S 14 I thought I would like it because a part of page 3 described me Basically all I did in junior high was text, straighten my hair, add to my Benedict Cumberbatch shrine, and worry about how to be popul [...]

    22. Short choppy sentences Unconnected thoughts Unrealistic thoughts Somehow Chloe managed to feel both way too young for her age and way too old She laughs immaturely when she writes the words Ice balls for hail because she said the word balls But, she s also a 14 year old girl who wants to get drunk and laid by the 18 year old senior Her best friend who s ultra catholic and says the word geez instead of god They make a slip up late in the book where she says oh my god, but the characters don t say [...]

    23. 4.5 stars I loved this Clearly, since I finished it in a day It s definitely younger than I usually read the book takes place over Chloe s freshman year and it did FEEL younger too I loved her voice though Allllll of the mistakes she made, crushes she obsessed over, and feelings she had about friends family school were so REAL I was so much like her in early high school Obviously I wanted to shake her on multiple occasions as an adult, but putting my 15 year old self in her shoes made me remembe [...]

    24. Sequel suggestion fast forward a few years and let s see Chloe in her first year of COLLEGE Now that would be fascinating.

    25. This book was absolutely delicious beautifully written, filled with flashes of blinding insight, and compulsively readable I couldn t put it down.

    26. don t get me started on this book i started it and then skipped to the end because this is the most unrealistic book about high school ever this girl is 14 and she s thinking about having sex with a senior and getting drunk at parties some parts of this book depressed me idky and the parts with her mom reminded me of myself because she s really selfish and she s always thinking about what s going to happen to her when there s bigger problems this isn t a terrible book but maybe because i m 16 i [...]

    27. This book was so amazing I will be honest, and say that I am not much of a reader I want to be, but I m not If something doesn t grab my attention, then I rarely finish a book In my adult life, I ve probably read three things max 1 Outliers which I liked because it was so different 2 The 50 Shades Trilogy yes, I know but whatever, I liked it and now 3 Confessions of a High School Disaster.Once I started reading it, I couldn t put this book down It had the ability to make me experience so many em [...]
