Very well written action adventure novel, about a business executive dealing with the aftermath of an avalanche in a tiny town beneath the mountains of New Zealand When the Company s mining operation is engulfed, and the death toll in the town rises, questions arise could the Company have foreseen the avalanche, and saved the people in the town Were enough safety measures taken Were there warning signs that were ignored, so that the mining operation would continue work for the Company s profit A [...]

    6. Starts out kind of slow Some intriguing conflict builds up over time and there is some nice action scenes A slight amount of romance I got the impression that the author was a man s man sort of fellow from the way that the characters interact with each other The descriptions of how an avalanche might occur and function were interesting About three fifths of the way through the book I didn t want it to end.

    7. Excellent idea for a thriller, with the action happening in retrospective flashbacks from the court hearing which followed it I learned a lot about snow from his traditionally thorough research Normal Bagley fodder, well served up with plot twists and shrewdly observed characters A thriller writer in his element.
