    1. Not much provided here 40 or so pages long A lecture by Fr.Seraphim Rose humdrum and tailored to a group college students, later transcribed and turned into this book The disappointing question and answer session from the lecture is also provided here I would avoid this haphazardly published work.

    2. God s Revelation to the Human Heart by Fr Seraphim RoseFr Seraphim gave this as an address to a group of college students in California around 1980 In many ways it summarizes all of Fr Seraphim s writings which is kind of impressive for only 50 pages Fr Seraphim s message is the human heart opens itself up to the truth of God this is revelation It is often when the Scriptures are expounded with the right interpretation this is intensified in times of acute suffering Fr Seraphim gives many exampl [...]

    3. Used anecdotal stories to explain his ideas of God s revelations at a lecture if 1980s college students as with most spiritual writings I read, it does help my understanding of the Orthodox faith.

    4. In the introduction, Hieromonk Damascene laments the fact that Fr Seraphim s lecture seemed to have fallen on deaf ears After reading the lecture, and then the transcribed subsequent QA, I sadly must agree but likewise understand why.The spiritual level on which Fr Seraphim operated was much further ahead of those to whom he spoke The topics which he brings up and their content are too deep for his audience a collective of casual seekers or wannabe Buddhists looking to ascend to some higher karm [...]

    5. Fr Seraphim Rose opened my eyes to the fact that if you want someone to learn about the true faith their heart has to be ready Here was a group of university students all taking a religions class listening attentively to what he had to say and most still didn t get it It s one thing to take a religions class, it s another thing to be ready and actually embrace the truth when it s presented to you. Then there s the case of miracles Some people search for miracles and those who can perform them Tha [...]

    6. There are some real nuggets in this book, but the book which is the text of a talk Fr Seraphim Rose gave is a bit sketchy and incomplete It is also marred by Fr Seraphim s reflexive and unsophisticated assessment of Roman Catholicism Catholics who have knowledge of the Orthodox would hardly claim or come close to claiming that the Orthodox don t have valid sacraments But Seraphim s assessment of Catholicism is crude and unsophisticated It is clear that Fr Seraphim was a holy, good man And his un [...]

    7. He St John Maximovitch himself taught that, for all the mysticism of our Orthodox Church that is found in the Lives of Saints and the writings of the Holy Fathers, the truly Orthodox person always has both feet firmly on the ground, facing whatever situation is right in front of him It is in accepting given situations, which requires a loving heart, that one encounters God God, the past, present and future of the human heart are all present, and He sees where He can break through and communicate [...]

    8. total crap, people who read this are usually boomers who are afraid of gods real revelation that if you buy a book with this title you are paying to be saved, which is never right.while there are some key fundamental religious experiences listed in the book, these ideas can be found elsewhere in better books.

    9. A great introduction should make you want to read this did Fr Seraphim talks about the path of love and suffering, the opening of the human heart to the truth, which is deeper than the eveyday reality that so quickly changes, rots away, leaves nothing behind, and offers no lasting happiness The qa at the end was disappointing, as one might imagine.

    10. Transcription of a lecture to U.Cal Santa Rosa students A good precis of what it means to become a Christian and seek God It s the search for ultimate reality and truth, and unfortunately from a human point of view , truly learning about God usually involves suffering.

    11. I appreciated the heiromonk s sincerity and authenticity I especially liked Fr Seraphim s view of how one discovered God in suffering, but he also gave example of others who did not come to God in the gulags The encounter with God is a mysterious thing.

    12. An excellent introduction to Orthodox spirituality It was one of Fr Seraphim s few books that was decent.

    13. It was very short, but pretty informative A look at Fr Seraphim Rose s perspective on religions and religious trends mostly focused on new age spirituality in relation to Orthodox Christianity.
