    1. While Knife has all the viscerality and rawness to pull the reader in, the book lacks the structure and storytelling to make it the satisfying journey it should be It jumped from story to story with no discernible common thread, moral or message, and a lot of it didn t quite make sense Perhaps poor translation is a factor, and I suspect that if I had grown up in Serbia I would have understood it better The intended audience of the book seems to be people who already have some knowledge of the ev [...]

    3. Knife is the story of Alija Osmanovic, a boy raised as a Muslim Bosnian, but who was born Serbian Orthodox His entire family was annihilated by the Osmanovic clan on Christmas He wins a scholarship to study in Sarajevo and leaves the countryside As a university student, he is forced to face and deal with Serbs Despite what his step mother has told him, they seem reasonable enough He dates one and is friends with others, though one Serb and one Montenegrin try his patience with their nationalism [...]

    4. This book was about a family divided by religion and one side killing the other except a newborn baby that they raised as a Muslim This is an excellent read I unfortunately saw the movie first and now reading the book, it s detailed I would definitely recommend this book

    5. One star is probably a bit too harsh I actually did find the numerous historical footnotes interesting, but it ruined the flow of the book I couldn t finish it.

    6. Incredible book Beware of the intro of the English edition it is Islamaphobic and a poor reflection of the mastery of the proceeding work.
