In addition to many other awards, this book received Forward Reviews Multicultural Book of the Year Award 2014 It is the sequel to another novel, The Wild Part, which was named a Forward Reviews finalist in 2013 The books do not have to be read in order to understand and enjoy the story, but for added reading pleasure read The Wild Part first.
