    1. Reading the blurb for this I was intrigued by the governess aspect I have always loved the governess Add in the fact that her employer is a plantation owner on a lovely tropical island, and the governess is an American, and well I couldn t resist This was such an interesting premise. Then I started to read it I was transported back to when I discovered the joys of the Gothic romance It was wonderful I was reading a new version of Jane Eyre, Wuthering Heights, and or my personal favorite Mistress [...]

    3. I would like to thank Entangled Scandalous via NetGALLEY for giving me an unreleased copy for an honest and fair review. Will Geoffrey realize Elizabeth is Worth overcoming his past or send her away for her protection In this, the third offering in The Worth Brothers Series, Avery does not disappoint It has everything to make any historical romance reader fall in love There is the daring, super sexy, emotionally damaged and seemingly unattainable hero The strong heroine who has been through so mu [...]

    5. I received this from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review I just did not love it I usually love my historicals set in Europe so this one threw me a little I just did not feel a relationship growing between the two main characters it seems to me all the sudden they go from arguing to the next day not talking then bam Yeah, I needed character growth between the two before a jump into the bed Other than that the story was an original but I just needed .

    6. Vikki s musingsWhen I received this book from the publisher for an honest review, I was intrigued since it is set in Granada, British West Indies in 1875 This is not my typical read, since I love the Regency era above all else, but the synopsis for the book sounded interesting I am so glad I accepted this remarkable book for review The plot is different and pulled me in form the beginning I have never been a fan of Gothic novels, but I found this one highly pleasurable to say the least.Geoffrey [...]

    7. Reviewed on my blog, Becky on Books for 11 17 14.If you took Jane Eyre but moved it back to the setting of Wide Sargasso Sea, subtracted the sympathy you normally feel for the main character in novel 2, cut out all the long and drawn out bits of JE that I tend to forget about between readings anyway, and made Jane a secretly pregnant, newly widowed American woman you d have a pretty good approximation of this novel.Since I m on board with all of that, I enjoyed it Love s Legacy is part of the Wo [...]

    8. Also posted HERE.This book has an interesting setting the West Indies and is set in an era I m particular interested in the 1870s Between that and the interesting blurb, I requested this one for review.Turns out I have very mixed feelings about the story There re some great bits, but there re also some bits that feel dated, the sort of character behaviour you d expect from bodice ripper era books. The secrets about why the household is so dark and miserable were done well, though the villains of [...]

    9. I tried, honestly I did, I really truly tried to find something redeeming about this hero But every single time I had reason to think Oh, okay, I think I finally see where he s coming from , he would do something else to make himself completely unlikeable. From the very beginning he was rude, abrupt, gruff, and impatient He is obviously filled with rage and loathing, only part of which he takes out on himself The remainder manifests in verbal cruelty toward everyone else, with something of a focu [...]

    10. The setting of this historical romance was what first drew me to this book I m not a regular reader of historical romances so I don t know if stories set in European colonies are common among this genre s writers, but I thought that Granada, British West Indies was a lovely choice Because the setting gave the story a exotic feel, this book is perfect for those readers who want to read something that may be a bit unconventional I enjoyed getting to know both Geoffrey and Elizabeth and to learn w [...]

    11. really good review to followThis is not my first time reading Joan Avery so I thought I knew what to expect What a bunch of twist and turns I could not put this book down I finished it in one seating Since I read so many romance novels I thought that I had it all figured out I thought I knew what would happen in the storyline, but I really did not The author had a lot of surprises in store.First, our heroine Elizabeth Malfonte is a widow She is traveling to Granada when she takes a two year posi [...]

    12. The heroine is an American widow who has been cut off from her family when she falls in love marries a man they didn t approve of a Union soldier while her family are Confederates When her husband is killed, Elizabeth accepts the post of a governess to a young girl in the West Indies in hope of starting anew but not divulging the fact that she is newly pregnant. The story started off well as we are introduced to Elizabeth as she arrives in Grenada to be the governess to Angelina, the six year old [...]

    13. Upon the death of her husband, Elizabeth Malfonte must look for employment, leaves America for the British West Indies, Grenada, to become a governess During the sea voyage, she is quite ill she is with child and fears she won t be able to keep her job Her employer, widower Geoffrey Worth meets her when she comes off her ship He could be a handsome man were it not for a ghastly scar across one cheek, and mostly for his sour disposition He is very cold towards his young daughter, Angelina LOVE S [...]

    14. Sweet and enjoyable read I loved loved the setting and the descriptions of Grenada I felt transported through time and I enjoyed that The plot itself was an engaging one, and I was pulled into the story From the moment I met the two main characters I was intrigued by their back stories and I really anticipated seeing the breaking down of barriers to the eventual falling in love I did not feel as if I got that fully All the elements were there, but I was very surprised when the h h declared feeli [...]

    15. Full review up on the blog gloriousbooks 201This review is going to be pretty short because I generally didn t like this read.If you have no connection to the characters whatsoever, how can you care about anything that happens in the book You can t.Seriously, everything that happened in this read did not affect me whatsoever It was all meh And I hated that I was so emotionally disconnected that there was pretty much no point in reading this. The only saving grace this book had was the whole deal [...]

    16. Full review cronicasdeumaleitora.Love s legacy is worth especially for its similarity of scenarios and plot with Jane Eyre and Wide Sargasso Sea, even if it wasn t the authors intention, I believe it is worth reading and take a closer look It was definitely different from most of the historical novels that we see publish nowadays and it has all the good ingredients of a story romance, mystery and drama It may not be a novel that everyone will love, however it is the perfect book to be read befo [...]

    17. This Harlequin Historical length novel reminded me of a Harlequin Not a bad thing The heroine arrives as a governess with a bun in her oven and immediately clashes with the widowed patriarch of the household She s not overwhelmingly feisty about it, but she definitely thinks he s being a callous jerk to his young motherless daughter. So guess whose shoes she feels compelled to fill And guess what mysterious person is up to no good on this island paradise It s enjoyably formulaic, nothing daring o [...]

    18. This was an interesting historical romance novel The female lead being pregnant when she arrives at her new position was very different It sets up the story so that you know there won t be any passionate embraces until much later in the book The strength of this story was the slow building relationship between Geoffrey and Elizabeth and how she changed his life The inclusion of a tormented past that comes back to haunt the new couple was an intriguing element, with the voodoo and slightly parano [...]

    19. Elizabeth is in need of a job after the death of her husband and has a secret to hide Geoffrey is angry at the world and as he hurts want others to as well Geoffrey hires Elizabeth to be the governess to his young daughter and is shocked to see a young widow that he is instantly attracted to This is one emotional ride that keeps you guessing as to what Geoffrey will do next The desire between these two is excellent and I liked the story a lot.
