    1. Source I received a digital copy of this book for free on a read to review basis Thanks to Bloomsbury USA Children s Books and NetGalley I found this book a bit slow in the beginning, but then it very quickly went downhill.Lyra was an okay character, but I didn t really love her Why she thought it was okay to go snooping around government buildings and eavesdropping on private conversations I don t know But obviously she was so important that the rules shouldn t apply to her, right The storyline [...]

    2. I received this digital copy from NetGalley.I have to say, I was a little disappointed in the story I had high hopes because the book description sounded interesting but I was not happy with the execution For one, I don t care for stories heavy on budding love relationships between characters If this element had been mentioned in the book blurb, I would have passed it up However, I loved the idea of using stars and galaxies for energy to make wishes come true They addressed real problems that co [...]

    3. Seriously, just look at this cover So adorable, right I saw this book and instantly marked it as to read I knew this was a book I had to get to know a little bit better.I read Kelley Lynn s prior YA book, Road to Somewhere, which I really enjoyed As we all know, I m a HUGE road trip fan, so that book was a given This book, however, was a tad out of my comfort zone, but I decided to open up my mind and give it a chance.Lyra has always loved space She decides to weasel her way into a summer intern [...]

    4. One Wish Away is too short The length of a book doesn t normally bother me that much But in here, there s just too much that wasn t handled well The characters were not completely fleshed out and some instances are just really, really unbelievable.

    5. Really enjoyed this book, the science behind it, and the idea, and enjoyed the depictions of both family, and high school Hope we get a 2nd book

    6. Lyra is your typical socially awkward, smarty pants Nobody quite understands her like her best friend Darren as most people think she s selfish, when really she just doesn t know better Obsessed with the night s sky pretty much since birth, her life changes when she finds that a star has gone missing When her father and aunt, who both work at Space Exploration and Discovery, start acting strange, Lyra is on the case Suddenly she s thrust into an internship with SEAD to save her life where she le [...]

    7. I am a bit conflicted with this book I thought the aspect of Cricket Project was a bit unbelievable I also found the events that happened toward the end of the book to be a bit unbelievable I do not want to give out any spoilers, but I find that not many tennagers making waves with the government. If I put that part of the book aside, I enjoyed many other parts of the book I thought the family aspect was interesting Lyra s father isn t really around for her, he spends most of his time at work and [...]

    8. What would happen if stars really could become wishes Would you cure world hunger Poverty Buy yourself a new outfit That s exactly what Kelley Lynn explores in beautiful novel about sacrifice, courage, and what really makes the world a better place Spot on writing, wonderful tale, and something that left me wanting One Wish Away kept me hooked through each new page and each new wish If only I had half the creativity Kelley does Amazing story

    9. 1 Lyra Altair is my spirit animal. It is so refreshing to see such a flawed main character I don t even think I would go so far as to call her a heroine, but I think she achieves that title by the end of the book Since it is my goal to NEVER spoil a book for you lovely followers, I won t tell you why But Lyra is a nerd She is a hardcore nerd and she offends people accidentally because of her knowledge I am the same exact way She is me, transmitted into a book At first, I thought I was going to ha [...]

    10. You can read this and many other reviews on my YA book blog The White Unicorn An Open Letter To One Wish Away,You were a mixed bag of tricks for me On one hand you were a fun and fanciful read You didn t seem to take yourself too seriously and your plot was well thought out On the other hand, you were really off the wall and none of you made any logical sense These things made me like you and feel rather uh about you at the same time I honestly don t really know how I feel about you as a whole, [...]

    11. I received a copy of this from NetGalley in exchange for review When I first started reading this book, I felt like it was at the middle school level as opposed to the high school level I tried to check out grade levels for other books for comparison, and I suppose that even Hunger Games is Grade 7 so who knows Some of the content is of adult, but the writing felt like it was appropriate for younger audiences As time passed with the book, I just had a hard time with it It gets 2 stars for kee [...]

    12. Plot This was a really cool concept I loved the idea of the wish machine It was so cool Also, I loved how to make the wishes come true they used stars I mean I would hate that, but it s a brilliant idea I wonder how Kelley Lynn came up with that idea Also, she had to be very knowledgable on all of the stuff There are a lot of science y is that a word things in this book, including complicated words Either that kind of stuff interests her, or she did a lot of research I really loved the nerdy stu [...]

    13. When I read the synopsis to this book I thought that it had amazing potential and while reading the beginning I still thought that The beginning was a little slow but other than that it was a new and original concept Her father created a machine that can grant wishes But what they re really doing can have so many consequences that they haven t even thought of.The book had a slow start but once we got into the middle it started to pick up some I think that the author spent too much time explainin [...]

    14. Lyra, named after the constellation, is constantly watching the stars, talking to them, asking them advice, confiding in them One night while gazing at them through her telescope she realizes one star is missing When she brings up the subject to her father and aunt, both of whom work at SEAD Space Exploration and Discovery they brush off her comments and refuse to give her answers as to what could have happened After some eavesdropping and quite a bit of snooping Lyra, along with the help of her [...]

    15. ONE WISH AWAY is a wonderful addition to novels that feed into our passion for wish making Readers will see in a very real way how wishes can have a global impact Kelley Lynn weaves science and a bit of wish making magic into this story, which I believe with hold the interest of late middle school and young adult readers. What I liked 1 The scientific setting.2 Lyra s strong moral compass and her curiosity.3 Darren, a supportive boy who is definitely swoony.4 The description of SEAD short for Spa [...]

    16. 2.5 5 StarsIncomplete If I had to describe this book in one word that s the word I would use This book has a lot going for it Interesting and unique plot, decent writing style, relatable characters, but it fails in its execution Why This is because this book is trying so hard to be a relatable book about high school, relationships, along with a fantastical science fiction and government conspiracy, and it just can t marry all of these subjects together Therefore, all of the details go unfinished [...]

    17. I thoroughly loved and enjoyed every page of this book The story was original, inventive, and, well, one of those stories that, as a writer, while reading, I couldn t help thinking, Damn it, why didn t I think of this Kelley writes her characters as realistic and relatable beings I could totally hang out with Lyra Add to that, all of the outer space stuff my technical term and this was a fantastic read And, in regard to outer space stuff , Kelley was brilliant delivering some pretty advanced inf [...]

    18. One Wish Away was a quick read with a mysterious premise why are the stars in the sky starting to disappear Lyra decides to unravel the mystery that is somehow related to her dad s work at a scientific lab.One Wish Away had interesting characters and I especially liked Lyra s best friend Darren They had a cute dynamic and I thought it was sweet the way he tries to care for his struggling family Lyra wasn t a bad character, but she made a few rash decisions that made me question her brainiac stat [...]

    19. This was a very interesting story with lots of potential but unfortunately it was presented poorly I feel like it was very realistic, the reactions and ignorance of the adults But the rest of the plot just seemed forced The relationship being the most fake aspect The romance developed quickly and I did see it coming but that didn t quite convince me that it was real The plot also lacked depth and was quite slow The story is definitely intriguing and I wanted to find out answers but it took a whi [...]

    20. I received a copy from Netgalley, in exchange for an honest review One Wish Away wasn t too bad at the start, but it quickly turned into a mess Lyra was an alright character at the start, but as the story progressed she really got on my nerves She had a look around goverment buildings, then after getting a quick telling off, told someone everything that was going on Which she was told not to do After that, i was hoping she would redeem herself, but she never This went downhill very quickly when [...]

    21. Wow I just finished this book and I LOVED the ending I m not sure I can wait to find out This book was written with a unique idea and that alone makes it interesting I will never be able to wish on the first star I see at night with out thinking of this book Well done Lyra and Darren are intriguing characters with a relationship that was very believable While I am not sure of the importance that Lyra s mother played, I am sure her presence was important Lots of questions remain from the story b [...]

    22. Sissy You can see how complicated this all is and what far reaching consequences one wish can have One Wish Away is so interesting and the cast of characters, in particular the adult relatives of Lyra, are complex and flawed I also enjoyed the anticipation of Lyra and Darren s blossoming romance All in all, a worthwhile read.Bubby I wish you hadn t said that Then I could have said it first Sissy Too bad Bubby Very enjoyable YA novel with a fresh, new plot 3.75 Bubbles Read full review of One Wis [...]

    24. I really wanted to like this book The premise sounded cool actually being able to wish upon a star Awesome This book and how the wishes were handled not awesome In fact, it was kind of lame And to make matters worse it ends on a cliffhanger Why introduce a character to the main character in the last paragraph on the very last page Meh I m surprised I finished the book.

    25. interesting concept pseudo scientific explanation for wishing upon a star, potentially disastrous consequences cliffhanger there WILL be another book.

    26. Kelley Lynn brings us an inventive plot, incorporating great information about astronomy with a fast paced story full of authentic and fresh dialog.

    27. I received a free copy of this book from Net Galley in exchange for an honest review When you really can wish upon a star, what happens when your dreams turn to nightmares Be careful what you wish for A top secret government experiment that promises to build a perfect world might bring about the end instead, and Lyra must reveal the truth and let humanity decide if the consequences are worth than wishing on a star 3.5 stars YA sci fi that isn t dystopian is a blessing sometimes It is nice to re [...]
