    1. I ve given this a C at AAR, so 2.5 starsLaura Martin s Secrets Behind Locked Doors sounded as though it would be an angsty but ultimately uplifting read that sees both protagonists overcome adversity and deal with a lot of emotional baggage before getting their HEA Unfortunately however, the author has simply tried to pack in too much to her story, so that the whole thing feels under cooked and rushed, with not enough time given to the proper development of the romance or to the resolution of ea [...]

    2. Nope Flat, rushed writing about flat, rushed characters that hurry through their development key plot points to get exactly nowhere Sorry, but both these people should have way legit PTSD issues to worry about, as opposed to He she is so gorgeous, gosh I desire him her, but I m unworthy a terrible person for wanting nookie And don t get me started on the pacing 10 pages of large font to meet the hero, the heroine, the situation, then introduce them to each other AND rescue her from the asylum _ [...]

    3. I really enjoyed the unique circumstances the heroine faced at the beginning Both the H and h had severe issues they had to work past before they could trust the feelings they were feeling for each other He, from his time in the war Her, from her time trapped in the asylum I routed for them both and was very satisfied with their HEA Kim

    4. Nice premise, poorly executed It was just too lacking in reality to have a young girl come out of an asylum where she was beaten and chained, deprived of food and no heat, and she barely needs to speak of it and has seemingly no lasting effects, either mental or physical of her incarceration She s even dancing at balls within the week It would also have been nice to understand the evil uncle s background a bit This is a man who did extremely despicable things with no indication of any conscience [...]

    5. Thoroughly enjoyed this The use of issues outside the normal scope of historical romance was refreshing false imprisonment in asylums and PTSD I felt the main chracters were well rounded and some of the supporting cast were excellent I particularly liked Mrs Knapwell.
