    1. At just over 200 pages, this definitely meets my definition of a beach read However, unlike most short mysteries, this one had far depth and meat At the crux of this mystery is a Russian icon, an art object that leads to learning about art restoration and the Russian influence in California My chief complaint is that the ending seemed so contrived, all the loose ends tied up in a couple of pages.

    2. I thought this was going to be another fluffy mystery, but the discussions of Russian icons, art restoration, angel healing , and what happened before the big bang made it quite interesting Also I didn t figure out who did it

    3. Naturally, my enjoyment of this book was enhanced by the fact that the authors are our neighbours and that part of the book takes place in Madison The references to recent Wisconsin politics left both Mary Ellen and me laughing.

    4. This has some interesting research on display on the subject of Russian icons and the making of The Birds by Hitchcock, but it s not a very exciting thriller or mysterious mystery.opionator.wordpress 2014 0

    5. I liked the setting of Bodega bay, but I would have enjoyed description for the area The mystery was not well crafted and the characters were a little flat including the cartoon like Russian thug I hope that future mysteries from this team will be exciting.

    6. The second of their books a good read and love the fact that they based the story in a place that one can look up on Goggle maps Certainly worth reading and learning a bit about Russian icons Nice twists in plot and would like to see character development of Nora and Toby in next book.

    7. A pretty good mystery Enjoyed the description Bodega Bay and Madison WI Interesting info about the filming of Hitchcock s movie the Birds in Bodega Bay Would be interesting to visit that area.

    8. Well Here is a fun quote for everyone Toby, who had been staring at the cleaned icon, looked up at me You re right That would explain why there weren t lots of bidders No one was interested With two exceptions, I pointed out Charlie I waited a beat Toby finished my sentence And whoever killed him Yep That s when I decided I was not finishing this book.
