    1. In January 2015 I set myself the challenge to read the complete Bible within a year I discovered that was an unrealistic challenge, and in fact haven t picked up my Bible since June 2015 It became so heavy going and somewhat depressing to read, so I kept putting it off.The good news is that it was just a rather extended temporary avoidance, and as of today I am continuing my challenge to complete reading the Bible I will do this However, I ve decided not to put a time limit on it this time I ll [...]

    2. Esther is actually quite an interesting historical account I think I enjoyed it even this time reading it, because of just having finished Esther Royal Beauty by Angela Hunt But in any case, its a grand tale God s name isn t mentioned I think this is the only book of the Bible that it isn t but you can definitely see evidence of His hand in how the story played out.Obviously, there s a lot I can t understand in Old Testament books Like the violence But I know there was a reason for all that hap [...]

    3. For if thou altogether holdest thy peace at this time, then shall there enlargement and deliverance arise to the Jews from another place but thou and thy father s house shall be destroyed and who knoweth whether thou art come to the kingdom for such a time as this Esther 4 14 KJV

    4. This is one of two books of the Bible that never mentions God s name Yet throughout this book, God s hand of providence is seen in every single chapter His presence is unmistakable Favorite verse 4 14 Mordecai boldly challenges Esther, For if you remain silent at this time, relief and deliverance for the Jews will arise from another place, but you and your father s family will perish And who knows but that you have come to this royal position for such a time as this God has a purpose and a plan [...]

    5. I am currently reading and studing the book of Esther I am enjoying the time I am spending in the word of God The most important thing I have learned is to be beautiful in the sight of the Lord.

    6. I found this work of immense interest and importance. The compilation of historical accounts, wisdom proverbial insights, and thought provoking texts, along with descriptive and informative footnotes, are of great value.Explanations, including varying scholarly views depicting the material related in this book, are available for each of the 66 individual books of the Bible. This book is but one of the individual 66 books letters which were written by forty different authors over at least 1500 year [...]

    7. WrensReads Review Sidenote The reason for such vague and short and eh words on each of these books, is because I wasn t challenging the study of the Bible when I read these I was challenging myself to read the whole Bible in a year because I knew it would be discipline to keep at it daily I do, however, plan to pick up a book and study what it is saying Those will be longer reads and notes. So here is my review from my Read the Bible in a Year challenge Usually just snippets of thoughts and rand [...]

    8. Esther is the seventeenth book of the Bible It is inspired by God Esther tells the tale of the people of Israel in their captivity and how God saved his people there The main character is a young Jewess named Esther who becomes queen of Persia after King Xerxes is displeased with her predecessor After Hamen, an official in the king s court makes a plot to destroy all the Jews, Esther and her uncle Mordicai make a desperate plan to save their people Esther cries out to the king and he reverses th [...]

    9. The Book of Esther is one of the most suspenseful account in the bible it was wonderful to see how the story unfolded, just magnificent It began with a feat held by King Ahasuerus, the king summoned his wife to show her off, but she refused because she did not want to go before the drunken men The king was very upset and was advised to dispose of her and get another to take her place. This was where Esther or Hadassah Mordecai s niece entered the story, she was shapely and beautiful to look at Sh [...]

    10. The book of Esther is a religious text taken from the old Testament The beauty of this book is that although it is religious, it takes the shape of a story than anything else I enjoyed this book a lot however I feel like there are some things that are being left out I would have loved the author to include details on how Esther managed to sneak into the palace I would also encourage the author to use descriptive text We know much about Esther but very little of her appearance hobbies and such [...]

    11. I love the book of Esther This is the only book in the Bible where the name God is not mentioned but you could see God s Hand throughout the entire book Esther was from a humble background and was obedient in listener to her uncle Mordecai who was like a mentor and a father figure to her Her humility brought her favour and she rose all the way to the throne Despite her fears when Haman schemed to kill her people, the Jews, she found it within herself to risk her life entering the kings presence [...]

    12. I ve always had trouble with this book, but always seem to learn a little each time I read it I still can t completely comprehend the mindset of Mordecai and the relationship he has with Esther Why is he giving his cousin over to join the king s harem Why does Mordecai make the scene with Haman that precipitates the conflict And then there s Haman What s his issue with the Jewish people and why does he go so far to get rid of them And the king supports this On the other hand, I m able to step b [...]

    13. We saw the Dead Sea Scrolls exhibit the other day I was interested to learn that they found fragments from every book of the Old Testament except Esther The only thing I remembered about Esther was the Purim story, thank you JCC preschool so I re read it The whole book is essentially the Purim story So why the editing choice One article I read mentioned that it is the only book of the Old Testament that never mentions God in the Hebrew translations Another speculated that the story had too much [...]

    14. What a magnificent story I am continuing my journey through the apocryphal books, just because I am interested and have never read them This book has some interesting additions to the book of Esther that is part of our Old Testament These additions were actually helpful in filling out the context of the story I am puzzled about why they were not included in the canon But then again, I am not a Biblical scholar.

    15. This book of the Bible just suprised me and I read it several times I appreciate it as a great work of anicent leaterture, it is just great as a story And also it is a good source of encouragement for me as a Christian Well, violance of ancient stories always shocks me, but that was such time For me this story is full of real beauty and joy.

    16. For if you remain silent at this time, relief and deliverance for the Jews will arise from another place, but you and your father s family will perish And who knows but that you have come to royal position for such a time as this 2 Dec 201124 Oct 2012

    19. The biblical book teaches courage and uprightness and justice It contains great insights on how the creator subtly paves pathways for those loyal to his will even in dire situations.
