    1. Superb Writing but Way Too ShortI found it difficult to rate this book because while the writing is superb definitely 5 star material , the story ends abruptly, like the end of a chapter, not the end of a book At 157 pages it seemed like a novella, and the story only reached the midpoint when it was suddenly over Set in England in 1348, this tells of Lady Alyse de Courcy who has a crush on Thomas, Lord Braeton, a nobleman in King Edward III s court, but she is shortly betrothed by the king to a [...]

    2. Sweet Medieval romance I just finished reading BETROTHAL by Jenna Jaxon, 1st book of her series Time enough to Love This is the first book that I read by this author, who writes historicals romances The story is very well written.Even if this medieval romance was different from the Scottish adventures that I am used to read, I really enjoyed it This book tells the story of a maid who loves a man in secret but is betrothed to another man It also describes the life of nobility at the court during [...]

    3. I won a free ecopy of Jenna Jaxon s Betrothal She did not ask for a review, but here it is anyway. This book pulls you in and won t let go.When you reach the end of this book, you ll shout No I want .Jenna is a fantastic writer I m an author and I am humbled by her writing Her descriptions paint the scene so clearly, you think you could step into the book Her character s dialogue is charming, witty and seductive She can play with sexual tension right to the character s and reader s breaking point [...]

    4. At first, the language took me a little while to get used to, but when I did, I couldn t turn the pages fast enough Alyce wants to be with Thomas, but is betrothed to Geoffrey The author brings about this world were knights were full of chivalry even when tossing someone against a stone wall Geoffrey is a the better knight in my opinion I couldn t wait for Alyce to realize her luck I want to see these two completely together and have their HEA When does the next book come out

    5. I really enjoyed this book It was the first one for me by this author and I will be adding of her work to my list I liked Alyse She is young, inexperienced, but witty and strong at times as well as vulnerable and scared at others I love her banter with both Geoffrey and Thomas Geoffrey is big, handsome, rough around the edges, jealous, yet sweet, loving, endearing too It does have a cliffhanger ending and I am anxiously awaiting the next one

    6. This was a wonderful read I love stories of knights and their ladies and this did not disappoint The only disappointing part of the book is when I found out it ended Too soonI wanted Geoffrey and Alsye s story to go on and on Jenna Jaxon has a wonderful ability to draw you right into the glitering medieval court Truly an enjoyable read I look forward eagerly to the next release

    7. While this book is entertaining, the plot is light in the way of substance It is mostly about the feelings of Alyse de Courcy as she navigates the feelings that arise from her first crush and subsequent betrothal to a man she doesn t know Keep in mind she is seventeen years old, so it feels like a teenage love story with feelings developing fast and changing fast as well The story comes to an abrupt ending and book two in the series picks up where things leave off here I am planning on reading B [...]

    8. About the Story Lady Alyse de Courcy, attendant of Princess Joanna of King Edward III court, loved Lord Braeton from a distance He didn t know she existed until his best friend betrothed her Sir Geoffrey of Longford was betrothed to Lady Alyse before he met her through his father, as was the norm at that time He loved Lady Alyse at first sight, however Lady Alyse didn t feel the same way She wished it were Lord Braeton. To make matters worse, Sir Geoffrey didn t present himself very well One mome [...]

    9. The setting is long ago 1348 AD when men wore skirts to their knees and ladies wore gowns to their toes A time when jousting about required ard horses and long poles A time when the king held total sway over his people and could alter their lives in a second And it s a time when life was uncertain and you lived in the moment, because tomorrow you could be dead. This is the first of three books following the lives of Alyce, Geoffrey and Thomas.Alyce comes to the king s court in search of a husband [...]

    10. 11. I just found Jaxon in 2014 and I m just starting this series now What took me so long It s a medieval story about Lady Alyse, who fancies herself in love with Lord Braeton, who finds herself betrothed to Sir Geoffrey I say this with the biggest of smiles It is also a continuing series in the way that Gabaldon s stories are a continuing series Except we don t have to wait as long for the next story More big smiles here I simply loved this Medieval set in the 14th century centered around the court [...]

    12. Oh, I do so enjoy a good medieval and Betrothal delivered.Ms Jaxon takes us into the English Court with all its pomp and ceremony, along with strict rituals and rigid behavioral expectations Her fabulous descriptions make the reader feel they are eating from the trenches, sipping the wine, and watching the jousting and dancing.I especially enjoyed the historical language and attention to historical detail so brilliantly weaved throughout the story Lady Alyse is a seventeen year old attendant to [...]

    13. I haven t read that many medieval romances, but I must admit, this one definitely impressed me Lady Alyse was a genuinely likeable, relateable heroine that I secretly wished was real so I could meet her She s strong and isn t afraid to go after what she wants, or importantly to this story, avoid what she doesn t want, ie a betrothal to Sir Geoffrey Longford, the best friend to the man she is in love with.I love these sorts of stories, where the hero or heroine ends up falling for the best frien [...]

    14. This was my first Jenna Jaxon story, and I really enjoyed it Her writing is extraordinary, and took me back to the times of King Edward, Knights, Ladies in Waiting, and all the wonderful experiences of Medieval times Her descriptions of the period and the characters were not only historically accurate, but vividly described, immersing me in the time.I loved Lady Alyce, the 17 year old Lady in waiting, intelligent, resourceful, willing to speak her mind I adored Sir Geoffrey, the chivalrous, yet [...]

    15. Jaxon did a stellar job writing the characters, setting, and the time period. And I love this story The women are portrayed true to historical records, used as currency to better men s standing a father bargaining his daughter s future as the wife of someone he stands to gain from Jaxon s descriptive writing takes a backseat to none I could see the dining hall, the countryside, the rose arbor, and the gowns they wore I think I could even taste the ale they drank The writing is witty and intellige [...]

    16. This novella was very engaging, but I must admit, that I did not expect such an abrupt and unsatisfying ending This was a free download, so after finishing, I looked up the book to see if there was a second book I did in fact find out that there is a second book, but after reading the blurb, I got a little annoyed and decided I did not want to read further Don t read the blurb to the second book if you are interested in reading this one because it has a huge crazy spoiler I gave this book 4 star [...]

    17. Oh I couldn t put this book down I found myself sneaking my kindle everywhere to read what would happen next Jaxon has a way of hinting at back story without overdoing it, and I found myself enad with the tantalizing hints she gave The dialogue felt very natural and her descriptions made it very easy for me to become invested in the main character s struggles as well as secondary cast members lives I can t wait to read the next book in the series

    18. Betrothal is a sweet love story set in the court of King Edward III There is little attention paid to the historic events of that time, but the author does a wonderful job of making the setting enchanting Read full review in the 2013 July August double issue of InD tale Magazine.

    19. This was an amazing story It was like going back in time Very realistic and the characters had great depth I just loved it I have the next in the series already Can t wait to read it I highly recommend to readers that love romance and especially if you love the middle ages.

    20. Good spirited romancegood characterization, plot and setting Loved the authentic setting and the jousts Could have done with less of the heroine s angst.

    21. I don t like when books end before the entire story is told This kind of series is not my cup of tea But excellent writing and great research used well.

    22. This was a sweet love story that made me smile and made me cry The end of the first book left me with some tender heartbreak I am very excited to read the next one right away.

    23. I didn t see the twist at the end coming This was an enjoyable medieval romance I am looking forward to the next book to see what will happen.
