    1. A great reference for serious owl lovers, this book covers comparative biology including ecology, behavior, taxonomy and the like Species accounts are very in depth, including range maps, measurements and weights, identifications, habitats, habits, and conservation status Not a casual guide, certainly not something to take into the field with you, but great for serious bird students or those whose professions require in depth knowledge of owl biology and natural history.

    2. Great book, but this is NOT a field guide it is an in depth discussion of the different species, including their courtship displays, size, habitats, social behavior, how to differentiate the species in the hand, evolutionary relationships, etc The information is referenced back to journal articles, so this is reliable info Great book for anyone really interested in these specialized birds.

    3. Informative and plenty of excellent photographs and drawings A bit dry, but lots of information about owl species, habits and behavior.
