    1. This is my least favorite of the books I hardly ever re read it I don t like the story and I don t like how Cheney is portrayed here Its probably just me, but I really dislike it and have from the first time I read it Weird.

    2. i had to admit i liked the first book better but cannot deny it was still a great read although i did feel they captured the characters personalities a bit better than the last book there was lots of interesting things going on lots of operations by miss cheney and lots of dramatic feuds can t wait for next book.

    3. Book 2 Cheney and Shiloh take a position in Arkansas Ozark Mtns where a female doctor is not accepted or trusted Shiloh meets a healer Maeva feuds are an accepted part of life curses on families and children a very different life for well to do Dr Cheney.

    4. This was my least favorite of all of the Cheney Duvall, MD series I ve read the series twice now and still did not like one of the major characters or the interaction between that character and Shiloh.

    5. I hated this book growing up what do you mean, Shiloh likes someone else , but a reread as an adult made me appreciate it slightly I enjoyed how Shiloh elected to be on his own, forging his character without Cheney While I didn t quite buy the romance between Maeva and Shiloh they really didn t seem to have all that much interaction, at least shared with the reader , I liked that the authors attempted to have him form attachments separate from his character foil, Cheney who I could happily have [...]

    6. This is just a QUICK REVIEW of my thoughts on the book Re reading this series I find I don t like it as much as I used to I m not sure if I m just too jaded now or if I was simply young enough then to love it without noticing the flaws Anyway, I didn t really like this particular book in the series the first time I read it but I liked it even less this time view spoiler Why introduce a love interest for Shiloh and then KILL her It seems like Cheney is then only his second choice, whereas if she [...]

    7. This was my least favorite out of the series It was totally clean as is the whole series Shiloh falls in love or so he thinks with another woman The story is about Shiloh and Cheney going to Arkansas to doctor the families there Two of the families are feuding and Cheney and Shiloh try to help The woman Shiloh falls in love with gets killed as does another man Their deaths have little details There is no gore but it is still kinda sad Other than I don t like the plot that much, I liked the book [...]

    8. I am really enjoying going along this trip with Cheney and Shiloh and look forward to continue the two of them have a really interesting relationship and I think they love each other but don t wanna acknowledge it though I wish they would I finished this book in a short time one thing I didn t like though was Maeva she kinda came between Shiloh and Cheney knowingly and with pleasure in my opinion and though I wouldn t have her brutally killed.

    9. I was kind of disappointed with this one was not near as good as the first The story plot was okay but not quite as gripping as some Also there was a romance going on between 2 people that literally just met and I HATE when that happens It was still good and I enjoyed reading it but it s not a favorite.

    10. This book breaks my heart And that s all I can say without spoilersough I will say beware of page 196 It s got the saddest line and to be honest though this adds a lot of depth to the characters and their friendship relationship it is bittersweet Well done by the authors, but heart wrenching and hard to swallow for the readers b

    12. Cheney goes to a town made up of mountain people, to become their doctor To also help a friend who is expecting a child Though Cheny soon finds out the mountain people are very Leary of new comers She has a long way to go to prove they can trust her.

    13. The second book of this series didn t show up anywhere in my searches except in a collection format I probably enjoyed this book so much because it took place in the Ozarks and I grew up in the foothills of those mountains It was very much a historical viewpoint and a great story too boot

    14. This book in priticular, i didn t think it was that bad The beginning of it i did not know what to think I continued through it and it did get better But i didn t love it soo much on the second book I usaully try to finish books but the second one i didn t.

    15. This book reminded me of the movie The Hatfields and the McCoys Not too much doctoring going on More about the people and the mountain Last third of the book got really good Ending was good though Shilol and Cheney are ready to head in a new direction, together.

    16. While I enjoyed this book, I found that the story of the feud between the two families became very tedious I would have preferred that the story provide focus on Dr Duvall and medical practices of the day.

    17. I used to like this series a lot It does have some funny moments characters and interesting plot points, but it is also rather on the feminist and romantic side.

    18. I have reread this series countless times and I think I ve only read this book once or twice I didn t love what they did to Cheney Shiloh.

    19. Love this series I m re reading it with my preteen daughter who reads at a college freshman level according to a reading and comprehension diagnostic.

    20. Thoroughly enjoyed this book kind of a light read, but the characters are engaging Perfect reading for vacation time, as I discovered reading this while on a bus with a tour group

    21. This one was ok I liked the 1st book in the series better There are several books in the series but not sure I ll ever get to them We ll see.

    22. This is probably my least favorite Cheney Duvall book, but I have to admit that there are some very good new characters and Cheney and Shiloh really mature.

    23. Thou I ve read this series before, apparently I ve missed a lot Decided to get this book on audio and whoa what a story Can t wait to dive back into this series
