    1. One of my favourites, with a funny story in rhyme and beautifully illustrated by Paul O Zelinsky about a thin wee maid and a fat white mouse making additions to their funny little house that have an unexpected result.

    2. Kate says this would make a good draw and tell I ll store this away for next time I have a chance to draw and tell

    3. Story 5 starsIllustrations 5 starsWonderfully quirky picture book with an Old Mother Hubbard feel to it The rhyming text describes the alterations a maid and her pet mouse make to their odd shaped house Through the illustrations, the house transforms into a scary surprise, but all is well with a happy ending Makes a great read aloud, though it was actually designed for a tell and draw story.

    4. This is a picture book version of a popular 18th century drawing tale The book tells the story of an old lady and her mouse who live in an odd shaped house The lady keeps hearing a hiss and as she walks around trying to find the noise she makes a path then when viewed as a whole is the shape of a cat Zelinsky s art style is reminiscent of traditional nursery rhyme books and helps set the quaint tone for this fun tale.

    5. This is a fun, rhyming tale that incorporates whimsical drawings and doodles into the story It s quite different from the other books we ve read by Paul O Zelinsky and I like the Mother Goose kind of styling We enjoyed reading this story together.

    6. A rhyming story about a old woman and a fat mouse who make a home out of an odd shaped house But things are not as they seem Every action they take seems to turn the house into something else something a tad dangerous perhaps The story is pretty standard, but I really loved the illustrations.

    7. A very different rhyming story of a little old woman and her companion, a white mouse, and how they build and expand their house and what it ends up being.
