    1. James Goss writes the best Torchwood stories, and Kai Owen reads them brilliantly I still think Ghost Train is better but this one is damn good

    2. Another great Torchwood audio book James Goss writes these characters so well, and Kai Owen does a splendid job narrating.

    3. Beware of Spoilers Yeah Another book narrated by Kai Owen I love his voice, it has something soothing to listen to and he does have a nice play with words when he reads parts for different characters That and the Welsh accent makes it for me fun to listen to But I wonder, in the other audio books drama s I listened to They tried to let the story be narrated by one of the actors playing a lead role in the particular book They didn t do it this time Which makes me wonder if no one else was availab [...]

    4. Torchwood if it s alien, it s ours operatives Gwen Cooper and Ianto Jones are working undercover cosmetics, and gentlemen s clothing at GR Owen, Cardiff s ageing department store in the last throes of decline with a brand new shopping mall next door nailing the lid on the coffin As GR Owen is threatened with takeover and being turned into flats this is Captain Jack Harkness last opportunity to solve one of Torchwood s oldest mysteries, the disappearance of the eponymous GR Owen, original owner o [...]

    5. Well, well, well This is the first book by Mr Goss that I didn t give an F Maybe he s getting better Or perhaps I am getting lenient The base plot of this story is that there s something up at an old department store in Cardiff and apparently this mystery has been Torchwood s oldest unsolved case which I find really hard to believe since Torchwood was created around the 1870s and this department store mystery didn t come around until the early to mid 1900s Sorry James Goss, didn t buy that one. [...]

    6. This was a rather lighter one than the other ones from the Torchwood series both show and books that I ve encountered since now It was also one of the first audiobooks in general that I ve managed to listen to the end until now, so that says a lot I loved it, and really liked the idea of Firestone as Torchwood s rival, and also the way they were so similar instead of If it s alien, it s ours it was If it s alien, it s profit The setting was something new and intriguing we don t get to see them g [...]

    7. This is the first actual Torchwood audiobook that I ve listened to, and did so while driving back to Kamloops from Prince George It was a great form of entertainment on such a long drive There was moments where it had me really laughing out loud Kai Owens did a great job narrating, and really made it feel like a real episode The personalities of the main characters really came through, and it was easy to get to know the secondary characters as well. The story itself was really interesting and kep [...]

    8. This was a fairly well done Torchwood story Set before after Season 2 and before Children of Earth, the story is read by Kai Owen Rhys from the show and he does a very nice job capturing the voices of the different characters. It s nice that the three main characters get near equal focus within the story, however I would have liked a bit personal touche character relationships were nearly ignored, and the story is very much about Torchwood and less about the people who are Torchwood However, it [...]

    9. Story Rating 3.5 starsNarration 5 starsThis is a solid addition to the Torchwood stories Kai Owens does a MAGNIFICENT job narrating All the characters, Jack included, sound spot on, even though it is only Kai narrating Simply fabulous Story wise, this was one of the better ones I ve listened too James Goss is one of the authors that I think captures the show s tone and the particular characters especially well As sometimes happens in Torchwood stories, this one takes a few over the top turns, bu [...]

    10. For some reason the story in this one simply didn t grab my imagination Jack, Gwen and Ianto investigate an old department store that s just about to go into administration because Jack sees this as his last chance to close one of the Torchwood x Files the owner went missing in 1910The encounter Firestone a rival organization who seek to profit from alien artefacts.Characterization is spot on and Kai Owen does a reasonable job narrating but I found the story quite slow and lacking in humour. It w [...]

    11. A stylish, compellingly eerie Torchwood mystery about an old department store that is rud to have a compartment detached from time and space I love these Twilight Zone concepts in quality sci fi, and when the story takes itself seriously enough I can t help but appreciate it James Goss is very good at creating an air of mystery with his honed prose, and he knows the characters of Torchwood well enough to make good use of them Stylish, entertaining and odd in just the right way.

    12. Because rundown department stores aren t creepy enough Torchwood gives you one that frequently kills it s customers The story was pretty straight forward, lots of violence which I ve come to expect from Torchwood The only issue I really had with this one was the way Jack came back to life In the show and on Doctor Who he simply reset, healing and coming back quite suddenly but in this he slowly healed and maintained injuries after he came back to life It bugged me.

    13. James Goss writes awesome stories for Torchwood It s not necessarily the case that was the most interesting but the interactions between Gwen, Ianto and Jack.I love how Ianto and Jack flirt in this one It s so cute The case is alright not very gripping but not boring either.Kai Owen is a great narrator and captures everyones voices very well.

    14. This review refers to the audiobook.Liked the story of a mysterious department store, which sees Gwen and Ianto go undercover as shop assistants The story was interesting but I tended to get distracted towards the end of it I suppose that s what happens when you do other things when listening to an audiobook.

    15. Two hours of Kai Owen s voice that left me laughing in the end view spoiler Don t worry We re Torchwood Does this mean this building is going to be blown up Also the part where Ianto and Jack are squeezed in fitting booth so they can have chat ah, all the possibilities department stores are fun, obviously hide spoiler

    16. nwhytevejournal 1697007It s a decent enough urban fantasy horror tale, set in what is effectively a haunted department store, featuring also a rival capitalist version of Torchwood called Firestone I was not as blown away by it as I was by the companion story Ghost Train, but it s an honourable addition to the Torchwood range.

    17. Torchwood meets Are You Being Served The story takes place in an old department store and there s actually an oblique reference to that lovely British comedy at one point Lots of quality monster chasing, flickering lights, and Jack dying repeatedly.

    18. I m giving this a 2.5 The narration was great, and most of the story was interesting but overall it just didn t strike me as much as some of the others Kai Owen should be used

    19. This one has suffered for me by being listened to in the same week as i first heard Ghost Train So, whilst this is a perfectly good story, it s just overshadowed for me by Ghost Train.

    20. I listened to this on the drive home today Interesting enough story, but nothing particularly exciting Kai Owen is good at doing different voices.
