    1. 3.5This would have easily been 5 stars from me, however, I had some troubles Most of my troubles were literally in reading understanding English is not my native language, but I understand it and speak it just fine First 50% of the book I was tapping my dictionary app like crazy, marking almost every other word I understand this is a pretty old book HR from 1992 , and I understand words are old archaic here, but seriously, it frustrated me so much I thought I would go crazy It killed all the joy [...]

    2. What can I say This book is one of my favorite historical romance, I reread it many times in French, this was my first read in English.Penelope Williamson weaved her romance with the England Wales history as well as the Celtic mythology and she really makes you believe that those two were meant to be together Raine is the strongest, fiercest knight on the battle field and though he clearly has jerk ish tendencies deep inside he is the true knight in shinning armor and he found his match in Arian [...]

    3. You guys Another older favorite of mine is only.99 right now This is on my keeper shelf, it s a medieval, and only.99 Admittedly, I haven t read it in a few years now so I can t promise it holds up but it is a medieval and it is only.99 Link

    4. Penelope Williamson BLOWS ME AWAY What a gifted and unique talent she has This was my 2nd novel of hers that I ve read, the first being Once In Blue Moon, and I can say with certainty that this author is the real deal In Keeper of the Dream, we are transported into the medieval period Lords and Ladies, Knights, bards, mystical Merlins , and unforgettable battles This is my favorite period, and this book is reminescent of Kingdom of Dreams by Judith McNaught and all medieval books by Julie Garwoo [...]

    5. The good Above average writing A good sense of historical setting I could feel the dirt and smell the grime The last third of the book settles into something resembles a true loving relationship Well, if it were badly written, I would not have felt the urge to at least skim this to the end, and would have been spared much finger trembling rage GARH The bad the forcing together of a harsh, autocratic man and a feisty woman, in which they have nothing in common aside from all kinds of quivering at [...]

    6. Medieval Wales Castle Rhuddlan is attacked by the English and Lady Arianna is captured along with the castle Raine, the Black Dragon, is the bastard offspring of the Earl of Chester and a favored knight of King Henry s.Apparently a well loved book of many romance readers I liked it It was fairly typical of the historical romances of the 80 s and 90 s This is not a bad thing for me personally I love many of the romances written during those times Somehow I missed this one though But I can now cla [...]

    7. Arianna is the daughter of the Prince of Gwyenedd, who has some power of sight, and who for political reasons is wed to the forbidding knight Raine, the Black Dragon, the illegitimate son of the Earl of Chester Of course our heroine is stubborn to a fault and of course she hates the Normans who have invaded and plundered Wales, and of course she most especially hates the man she s to marry While this story contains many of your standard HR plot twists, i.e stubborn beautiful noblewoman forced in [...]

    8. Enthralling Welsh Medieval Romance This is one of the best medieval romances I ve read but then I m a fan of Penelope Williamson s historical romances Set in the mid 12th century when England was at war with what would become Wales, and the marcher lands were the battleground, it tells of Raine, bastard son of the Earl of Chester, and Ariana, a Welsh woman who becomes part of the conqueror s spoils.Raine s father was a Norman nobleman who treated Raine cruelly beating him when he asked for a pon [...]

    9. 3.5 starsThis one is a little hard for me to rate It had moments of greatness and some moments not so great The hero is passionate and gentle with the heroine then there is a misunderstanding where the hero thinks the heroine betrayed him in some way he then becomes hard and cold towards her telling her the only purpose she has is spreading her legs for him and bearing him sons The hero eventually realizes the truth and becomes soft towards her again though not actually apologizing for it But to [...]

    10. Raine and Arianna were quite the pair He the tortured hero, she the spitfire heroine There were a few parts in the tale where I thought ew, Raine, did you have to do that because his behavior irked me But, hey, that happens sometimes with me when the hero is acting like a jerk And I wanted him to stop it so they could get on with loving each other.I seriously enjoyed this one Recommend.

    11. Too much of a bodice ripper for me Marital rape was followed all too soon by love struck heroine s adoration of the hero I gave the novel up completely after hero s gory account of his slaying of h s kinsman, which seemed like an aphrodisiac for both to jump and hump one another I just realised why I prefer Regency to Medieval HR I think the latter period is too brutal for my delicate self.

    12. A campy mammoth of a medieval romance A book you enjoy despite wanting to slap both leads several times.A fun read from start to finish in all its over the top glory.

    13. I read so many reviews on this book complaining about rape So I didn t really know what to expect as I started reading it But as I got half way thru the book, I realized the rape was a matter of a stubborn hostage bride not wanting to consummate the marriage She was such a bitchy bitch, she should have considered herself lucky that she didn t get beat actually I think it was written historically correct for that time period, so it was not an irritant for me What did irritate me though was how w [...]

    14. I am not very good at writing reviews unless it s a bad one LOL All I can say is that this is a w ell written, well edited historical romance that has a bit of magic, folklore and is certainly an emotional rollercoaster The characters are very believable and well developed There is a lot of passion and lust, but also such strong love that was written in the stars I liked that the love was not your typical love at first sight deal as in so many romance novels The love shared in this one was hard [...]

    15. Oooh I read this book for the first time when I was 15 years old And Jesus, did I love it I transported me, made me long for the love they shared and made me want to buy a ferret I re read it a couple of times since and still like it very much I don t, know it just seems deeper than many other historical romances I ve ever read.

    16. Raine is the illegitimate son of an English Norman earl who is bitter about his place in life But as a fierce fighter for the king his loyalty has earned him a small castle in Wales where he has to marry the daughter of the Lord, Ariana She hates him on sight, and he has no love of the idea of being forced to wed, but finally achieving his dream of ownership As the two battle and spar and fight their attraction, war interrupts their squabbles and Raine has to go and fight for the king A well don [...]

    17. Love this book I ve read a ton of historical romances but this one is my favorite Her descriptive writing makes you feel like you re in this world, hearing what they hear, feeling what they feel I fell in love with the characters, as flawed as they are, and have never rooted for a couple like I did Arianna and Raine Great read I ve had to buy 3 copies because I keep re reading my copies and wearing them out.

    18. I had die and gone to heaven This book is my soulmate and for the rest of my life, I will cherish it, I will eat its pages slowly word by word As well will hug and kiss it, because I m no longer a human reading a book I m a character inside a beautiful, heartspining, and utterly unforgettable romance novel I m in love.

    19. 4.5 stars I read this one quite quickly Very well done, although the love triangle was a little overplayed by the end.

    20. This is the story about a Welsh princess who has the gift to see into the future and the past and an English hero who is the firstborn bastard son of a British lord He is an impoverished knight that fights to become the Lord of a Welch estate he once lived on as a child Everything about this story was so predictable and not engaging. No reason was given why the hero s father hated him with a passion and treated him worse than a lowly servant Then there is the hero s younger brother, and rightful [...]

    21. 3 starsThis could have been a much better story I still don t get how her being a seer helps the progression of the events in any way The magi squire does with his powers The visions she has, don t even happen Doesn t make sense I don t know Plot threads were left hanging, unanswered questions Definitely not one of PW s bests.

    22. Well this is my first time reading Penelope Williamson s work and this novel did fail to deliver It just was not what I was expecting It is a part of the HR genre, but throughout the novel it didn t seem like it was HR The dialogue didn t deliver the sense of historical feel to it Another thing I thought was striking was the sex intimate scenes They really were outright contemporary in nature and I thought they were just as filthy and dirty as the sex that you would find in some cheap Harlequin [...]

    23. I m rewriting this review because I had gone through other reviews of this book and felt like I had to comment on every point that the readers disliked So I want to write my review based on how I feel about KotD and not how anyone else feels This is hands down my favorite HR of all time I give it the 5 stars It has everything I want in a romance novel and it s the book I judge all other books against I read it as a teenager and I have kept reading it over the years until I had to buy a new copy [...]

    24. Overall Rating 4.50 Action 3.5 Emotion 5 Romance 3.75 Sensuous 2 Suspense 4 Medieval Flavor 4.75 Laughter 9 Tears 7 2 To summarize, Keeper of the Dream by Penelope Williamson is a wonderfully well written novel that would readily recommend to any lover of Historical Romance books, particularly those fascinated by the Welsh people and their long history of believing in magic and love everlasting It features 1 Raine, one of the most strong, determined, adversity overcoming heros who ever graced th [...]

    25. I am really divided in my opinions about the book and I wasn t sure what rating to give the book The story takes place during medieval times and like in most romances the main characters meet during siege of castle or any other war relating events In this case the hero takes control over the keep of the heroine The hero is the ineligible son of rich lord who always wanted to own place which he can call home He is hired in his brother s army and everything that is win in a battle is going to his [...]

    26. First of all, don t pay the kindle 20.99 price for this book I looked it up, saw the astronomical price, and rented it from the library Boy, am I glad I did I didn t end up finishing this book, and I m less than a hundred pages out I cared that little about the characters within. The male was a typical alpha hero that ran around beating his chest, and the female was the typical strong heroine that ran around after her alpha hero There were some stupid misunderstandings, and they both love each ot [...]

    27. Overblown, repetitive, aggravating are my adjectives for this novel I stopped caring a bit past halfway for the hero and heroine, who seemed to be locked into an unproductive if not destructive pattern of push and pull This story is the Romance version of Smart Women, Stupid Choices Honestly, I couldn t understand why the author felt it necessary to have not only one Big Misunderstanding, not 2, not, 3 or 4 but no less than 7 Big Misunderstandings And I lost count so there may be .I wrote in my [...]
